I am trying to get traffic from forums by adding a link to my site in the signature. A lot of popular forums do not even allow linking and the ones who do don't allow commerical signatures (they ban you when your site has even ads on it).

What are my options to get the signature links stick? I am sure there are a lot of forums out there where moderators are not so strick but those forums get little to no traffic, are abondoned, dead.

If anybody has done forum marketing (not spamming) then do you have any tips? My posts are not spammy at all, I fill out my profile and give good, quality answers. Also my signature is not overly commercial, usually just "learn how to xxx".

    Thanks

Become a JR Vip here at BHW, and put your link in your signature. You should be good to go. Lesser, more stupid forums (Rhymes with shmarrior) will ban you just for having a signature, if you aren't a self proclaimed "guru".

Hmm, it will depend on the forum really, what they allow and how far you can push it. I would say before you put in your links contribute to the forum, make relevant posts for a while (not just ones like "thanks good info") and then when you are a bit established in the community, sneak in your link. At least then they are less likely to ban you and will just ask you to remove the link, if at all.

Go through the rules of those forums. Read about their signature rules and if it seems to be achievable, you are good to go. Don't waste your time writing posts and ending up banned.
