Hello guys. For the past 9 years I'm creating content for my sport based page. It's relatively big for my country in Central Europe, approximately +175k fans with stable reach between 60k-110k per post with solid reactions (likes, comments, shares).

I've been making money through one cooperation with sport based company, where I share their funny content, but that's it. I tried my own website previously, but AdSense money were the only monetizing money and as you can imagine, I failed miserably, it was just not worth the time I invested in it.

I've been reading about Facebook Instant Articles - is it good way how to earn some money through it ? I don't know anyone from my country that is making advantage of them, so I have no idea how much I could earn by using them. I also plan to sell sport based merchandising, but other than that, I'm kinda lost. I've been thinking about affiliate for sport betting, but my content has been 9 years full of fun and now I'm detached from making money by some "shady" business - but it's important for me to make some money from it.

If you have ANY recommendations of monetizing local based sport niche page, please let me know, I will highly appreciate it, since there are no valuable resources for my niche in my native language.

Thank you very much!

Facebook instant articles are indeed a good way to earn money besides they have more reach compared to posting links of your website. People also tend to click more on them as they dont have to leave facebook to read those articles.
Apart from that try and start a magazine it can be weekly or twice a month. You can use flipping book or builder all for magazine, flipping book comes integrated with email collection box so you can build a list as well. Use that email list for affiliate marketing, try not to mail ur users more that twice a month so your email should not look spammy.
Coming back to magazine, you can sell ad spots directly on magazine itself. One more advantage you will have with magazine is that you can divert from your core sports niche. Create and follow the format every week, dedicate one section/article for upcoming movies/sports events in ur country with an affiliate link where people can buy the tickets for those movies/events, another section will include news, 3rd one should goto tech(try and review the latest tech/gadgets, u dont have to buy them just read it on other sites and then rewrite it).
So basically u can do whole lot of things,, its quite a work but believe me u will start making money in no times and soon all ur ad spots on magazine will be pre booked sometimes even for months.

Instant Articles seem to be a good choice to start, not sure if it's going to make you great profits but it's a good start. Don't limit yourself to one cooperation/sponsor, try reaching out to others that might be interested, show them how your audience engage with your content (or theirs) and set fair prices or even different packages in the future (each package with more exposure/content/higher price).

You must have heard that "the grass on the other side is always greener"? I guess its really true in your case. The best way to monetize is what you are already doing "making money through one cooperation with the sport-based company" you need focus on scaling it via cooperating with other various local sports shops/companies/chains/retailers etc. and make them see how they can benefit/earn more from it.
