I have a political blog myself. I do it more because I am interested than to make money. It is true that the Big G, does not pay very much for political ads. I do use it though and it throws me a few bucks a month. Not much...

If you have a lot of traffic you might try direct ads to political campaigns or organizations. Mine doesn't get enough traffic to look into that yet. Not that I'm too concerned, like I said it's actually just for fun and for me to vent.

If anyone else has any ideas on making money with this I would be interested also.

I would say affiliate products would work well. Selling t-shirts, pins, buttons, political books, bumpers stickers, bobble heads :)p) and that sort of thing.

For CPA I guess you could do surveys, or polls that lead to a zip or email submit. I assume they take traffic from political sites, but you should contact your AM just to be sure.

I'm not sure how well adsense does but you could try it out anyways, can't hurt. If you decide otherwise though, you can look to other ad networks. Or work out an ad space deal with another website for them to put up their ads or banners.

The most important thing is to get your blog up and receiving traffic. That's the biggest part after all, once you have traffic its alot easier to see ways to make money off of it. Good luck.
