As you know, to raise start up money or investment money, you can either cough up some money or try offering your services on websites like oDesk, Get a Freelancer or eLance. eLance has released some trends that are extremely helpful to us. These trends probably apply similarly around other freelancing websites.

So take a look at where employers are spending there money:

However, this could just mean that IT jobs are paying high. It technically doesn't mean that there are a lot of job opening available.

    Now lets evaluate the competition.

Creative (writing) is about 1/3 of all the providers! What does this mean? Unless you have major skills, this is not the category to study or become and expert in. Taking a look at IT, only 1/5 of the freelancers do this but around 2/3 of the money goes towards this!

Lets look at the top 20 skills in demand.

    1. PHP - 2. Article Writing 1 [IMG] 3. Graphic Design 1 [IMG] 4. HTML 2 [IMG] 5. WordPress 1 [IMG] 6. Content Writing 1 [IMG] 7. MySQL 2 [IMG] 8. CSS - 9. Photoshop - 10. Web Content 1 [IMG] 11. Flash 1 [IMG] 12. English Translation 2 [IMG] 13. Illustrator 1 [IMG] 14. Data Entry 1 [IMG] 15. JavaScript 2 [IMG] 16. iPhone 5 [IMG] 17. Copywriting 1 [IMG] 18. Admin Assistant 2 [IMG] 19. Logo Design 1 [IMG] 20. SEO 3 [IMG]
PHP maintains number 1 in demand, just like last year. iPhone has jumped 5 spots since last year. MySQL and HTML have dropped from the top but article writing, graphic design, Wordpress and content writing are all slowly climbing to the top. SEO is down at 20th position! Dropping from 17th since last year. On the full chart, jQuery has jumped 42 positions since last year to 44th and Android has jumped 26 positions to 49! 3d, non-fiction, blackberry, google maps, user guides, after effects and telephone handling all jumping up the charts in demand.

I hope this helps you all! :feedback::tee::thanks:
