    This Q is newb as fuck - but I've been looking on Goog for hours. Mabye I'm not phrasing my query right - don't know what to call what I'm looking for.

    Here's what I want to accomplish:

    You know how if a blog post is like 3 pages long, you probably don't want the whole thing showing? You'd rather have just a paragraph or 2 and then a llink that says "Continue Reading..."

    I see it on blogs all the time.

    How do I accomplish this? Hide part of the post and show a "continue reading" link?

    I think there is a wordpress plugin called excerpt-content-word-limit or something like that. I think it does just what you want...however you can change this in the template as well...

    you don't need any plugin. Just click on the "more" button when you want to cut the message and then continue typing.

    edit: ty180 beat me to it

    You also may want to look into:

    the_content_limit

    You basically find where you want the post to end and go to another page (the post page) You can just click on the More Box, Shown Below

    [IMG]

    But like the above poster said, you can go to the HTML edit and add

    <!--more-->

    Where you want the content to stop showing on the first page.
