So one new client wants to buy 500 items that I sell.
I buy these things from china, I do not want to spend
a lot of money for these items and then he says I do not want it.
the guy seems legit, he owns a shop but is their a best way to carry out this transaction

    I'm based in Uk

Contract or scare him e.g. you will broke his legs if he will not pay. Just joking, go to the lawyer.

Surely you receive payment before ordering?

Once his order has been paid for you'll then organize delivery of the 500 units? The fact it comes from China just means a longer delivery time?

    What am I missing here?

We are also based in the UK, we do not offer an account for the first two orders this is to establish a relationship, we also do credit check, so we make the customers pay up front.

If they want the goods they should be more than happy to do this if not its not worth the worry

Make a contract and let him pay you first for the order. If he really wants the items, he will do that.

You could always deliver a portion of the product at a time (think of it like drip-feeding the prodcuts) and have him pay for each delivery when it arrives. If that's not a viable solution, then make them sign a contract and tell them that due to the size of the order, they need to at least make a 50% down payment before you deliver the products to them.
