Are you making money with Groupon offers without offering a physical
product? If so, I'd love to hear about it. I want to do this but need some
    ideas.

I saw an offer on another forum for a report & video about some guy who
allegedly made something like $100K in one day! He was selling a seminar
about internet marketing to interested parties.

The report is getting slammed by many buyers for not being worth a damn
due to the lousy audio quality and the lack of actionable content.

Anyway it got me thinking of other ways for us IMers & aff. mktrs. to make
money by offering digital products. But I don't think Groupon is really
useful for selling ebooks or videos.

How about offering virtual services like writing, SEO, backlinking, customer
service, driving traffic to a site, webmaster/website services, etc?

Is that possible? I know nothing about Groupon so far.

Do you have any ideas on how to make $$$ with digital or virtual services?

I am interesting in this theme too, only I can say that I tried some stuff to promote here in my country. I tried to offer some training about motivation. Result is 6 people will come. I think Groupon site is good for services but we should very carefully to choose type of services that we want to promote/

Yes, I see what you mean. I have a backlinking service but I'm not sure that this
would be a good, targeted service to offer to Groupon Junkies. My intuition tells
me that they want deals on food and products, not SEO services.

Yes you are right. Groupon is better work for massive demand products. But what if you say that you have proposition of making super personal website with good discount, also when you make this order you can provide to those clients you hosting and SEO service! What are you think?

I read that report and there wasn't any actionable content but that wasn't the point of the interview. The point of the interview was how to utilize Groupon to promote your business KNOWING it must be business to consumer oriented.

Selling information or training classes is a great way to sell on Groupon and grow your own list. The question is how do you convert your information in such a way as to make interesting to the average consumer.

This is what Groupon is looking for AND what will make your offer a success.

That is a great idea! Could sell blogs & SEO too! Thanks for brainstorming!

Good points! How about offering a consumer-focused app? Might that work?
    Thanks for your input!

My understanding is that Groupon is quite picky about what products/services they will promote. Also, keep in mind that they'll keep half of all revenue generated AND they will ask you to offer a highly discounted price on top of that (usually 50% or more) - meaning that you'll end up receiving 25% of the "normal" amount you otherwise would.

That being said, if you are offering a service, like link building, getting 25% would be better than nothing...:D My guess is they won't go for most SEO-type services offered here, but that's only a guess...

I live in the states and called Groupon and Living Social. They both told me that they only promote physical location products (you have a B&M location that people can visit).

I was also told they only promote general population type of products (food, general services) but don't offer B2B products or make money products.

This was several months ago. So maybe somethings changed if you're seeing anything different than i mentioned above.

In my OP, I referenced a guy who claimed to make a bunch of money from
offering a seminar at a business location. So he had a location but the product
was not food or a physical product although he probably provided some written
material to the attendees. Maybe there has been a change there.
