    Hello guys!

For the past 9 month I have been working my ass off with social media. Every thing from studying, learn it, make sites and so on and so on. Now in the next few month (hopfully 1 month) my project will be 100% done. Leaving me with a steady monthly income.

So I have been starting to thinking a bit about what my next project should be. And since I have been putting so much time into social media the past month I really feel that I would like to learn some more about SEO. This is something I have never done before.

I am dedicated and I am putting in alot of time to my project. I am not one of them who are looking "quick money". I am trying to build up a steady passive income and at the same time provide something of value. Since I now (or soon) got my base income I will have no problem with if my next project will take up to a year to accomplish.

So now to the point. I have no idea where to start. The only thing I can say is that if I am going to put in a year of great effort and time. There must be a project where it is a good chance to reach a passive income of somewhere around 1000-2000$/month. So I would like a little bit more about what way there is using SEO to make money, so I pretty soon can start to the study/reading/learning part on a few areas. I have been thinking about authority site, it sounds like somthing that would be fun to learn, but I really have no idea where to start.

    Thanks in advance / Snatch

Authority sites would be a great idea especially since you say you know your way around social media, if you pick a niche that's easy sharable you can make a killing with the traffic from social sites + organic traffic from google and other places. I'd start there if I were you.

Thanks for your opinion. And I honestly did'nt have any idea social media could have so great effect on authority sites. I think I will go with a authority site, just a few more thing I need to clear up first. A few questions:

    1. As we know, there is a lot of sales talk here on BHW. I would be happy if someone could give me some realistic earnings for a authority site? Also point me in the direction to people who have succeded with this to see how it went for them.

    2. Is there any good/"must read" threads here on BHW regarding authority sites that I really should'nt miss?

What do you mean by "learn seo"? If you mean learn how to spam backlinks using tools then it's not the best use of your time.

Since you already know how to generate traffic using social, just build upon that but with seo in mind.

this is what i would suggest:
    1) learn basic on page seo. Lots of threads here about that.
    2) go to buzzsumo or some other site and find content that already attracts links.
    3) rewrite or improve the content, stick it in your site, and use your skills in social to drive traffic to the content.
    4) if your social and content stealing skills are up to scratch, you're bound to get a good amount of links naturally from this alone.
    5) profit and repeat.

Hint: copying doesn't work very well for seo, hence the rewrite or improve.
Good headlines are crucial, but you already know that if you're good at social.

    Good luck.

its a quite old strategy but i think it will work now "LINK WHEEL METHOD" . If you have money and time to invest then go for this method and do it properly with a little personal touch.

    Hi guys!

Thanks so much for all of your opinions! I have decided to go with 1 personal blog where I will do all the work myself, and the main focus will not be to make as much money as possible. But to write something that will bring value for the reader. And then also 1 autority site where I will outsource all/most of the work. :)

Well I was where you are now and yes, SEO is probably the most logical choice for you at this point.
However, I wouldn't aim for the sky quite yet. Don't do the same mistake I and hundreds of others did. Don't go for some authority website and super hard keywords. Not yet.
Your budget isn't exactly high at this point and you need to make it bigger. What could happen is, that you would blow your entire budget on one website and still couldn't rank or get it penalized and stuff like that. If it was up to me, I would go after parasite pages and simple CPA/Clickbank keywords. Even keywords with 1K search volume can make you a few hundred bucks a month. Competition is relatively okay, search volume is decent, conversions are pretty lovely and most of all, SEO costs aren't that high and you don't need that much experience to rank high.
I would wait till my budget is high enough and until I have enough experience and money for testing and doing things right. Then I would focus more on a authority approach, if that's what you want to do in the future.
Also, considering that you don't have that much experience with IM, it will be fairly hard to provide something valuable for IMers on your blog. No offense meant. Those are my 2 euro cents.

Start with the Google Webmaster Guidelines and learn what they expect and what can get your site penalised. From there, start reading SEO journey threads and begin testing methods on the sites that you created.

Find out what works for you and what doesn't.

Parasites for starters, then niche sites, then authority sites

Look for information on authority sites and work on multiple sites in different niches.

Thanks for the advice. Yes I will do some smaller work on other areas first just for learning/understanding :)
