I've got a client that specializes in helping people figure out where to go to college ... they do a great job of helping them get into school, qualify for financial aid, etc ... the best part is that they're able to offer their service for free, because colleges pay them to provide the service.

I've helped them build their business to the point where they currently help about 20,000 people per month. Not bad.

I'm looking for ways to expand their offering ... to help these same 20,000 people in other aspects of their lives and hopefully pick up more money along the way.

Last month, we conducted a fairly exhaustive study that ultimately focused on finding other areas of their lives where they feel they need help.

We learned that they OVERWHELMINGLY need help with either "finding a job" or "paying bills" ... over 60% of those surveyed listed one or both of those as critical needs in their lives.

Through other questions, we learned that these people are desperate for help, but they are broke. They are WAY below the poverty level.

So, here's Question 1 ... if you had an active audience of people that felt good about your brand, that you had done something nice for in the last 30 days, and you found out that they needed help finding a job, or that they needed help paying their bills ... how would you help them?

Question 2 ... how would you make money while you help them?

I'm not looking for tricky scammy stuff here. This is a real company with a reputation to uphold. Pretend like you really care about these people and really want to help them find a job and pay their bills.

    Thanks!

Obviously, the tie-in for IM is to offer them a kind of offline M-turk opportunity to do small freelance gigs that end up being something you can resell or leverage on a "slam dunk" basis for greater earnings on your end. Your business could consult with them about simple JV opportunities that will net you, say 200% profit or more after they get their pay. You do the brain work to create the cookie cutter, they do the grunt work.

All you would be realistically offering for most of the deals would be pocket money, which would be valuable to somebody otherwise broke, or untrained in making money. But that's cash they could use to keep looking for a J.O.B., buying a recommended online course, or to get by until they were up to speed on doing things like working online gig sites or other freelance work. Examples:

--Broke JV partner looks for $.99 store/thrift deals all over town that can be sold for 3-4 times the amount online. You split the net profits say 2-1 with them (you get the 2). You pay the partner $100 to find you at least 10 excellent deals, say of $5 (easy to mail) items you can sell for $20 online (promoting a free Web 2.0 page). You make $500 selling 25 units, minus $125 to buy the items and $75 to mail them, and $100 to the partner, nets you $200).

--Broke JV partner circulates flyers promoting popular/well-selected CB or other affiliate product offline, at suitable hubs (flyers link to your affiliate landing page). Item pays $50 commission, and with 1000 circulated, a mediocre 1% conversion rate earns you $500 (minus $80 for printing and $120 you pay the partner, nets you $300).

That kind of thing, these are starter ideas.

Set up a recruitment website similar to a recruitment agency where the companys post the jobs and the people upload there cv/resume. Can be a very lucrative business.

I've had loved ones in this situation and even been in it myself in the past, so I just want to give you props for wanting to help and not wanting to go the scammy route which was my first worry when I saw the thread title :) I hope you can bank from it all

With regards to finding them a job - there are 2 standard HR (Human Resources) business models:

    1. Business pays to HR for a lead to successful candidate
    2. You get a share from 3-4 first salaries

Can you elaborate about paying bills? I'm not sure I understood the problem.

Great ideas. Put them to work offline doing things that make money ...

We could also build a network of offliners that can do local offline gigs for marketers ... "Get paid $10 visit xyz shop and post an honest review on Google." It wouldn't take much before we had dozens of people in ever city of 100,000+ all across the country.

Great idea. We're actually already on top of this one ... the site is in development and we're hoping to launch in about a month. Thanks!

Great idea on the HR model ... as far as paying bills goes ... I mean, they're having trouble making ends meet ... they can't pay the rent or feed their family. It's rough.

get them to promote cpa offers offline; especially pay per call.

create the basic campaign structure for each individual then show them how to promote...
e.g. create SMS service + flyers, just let them pass out the flyers with SMS on it and they get commission or whatever.

Exactly this. You could get them to promote incentivized CPA offers around the streets. Print out some flyers, and see what happens.

Promoting CPA offline never really occurred to me. I guess I should test it ... it could actually work. Once I figure it out, I could hire whole piles of people to do it for me.

I'll do it. I'm going to put together a couple of offers this week and plaster my town with 1,000 flyers on Saturday.

Why not start a landscaping business and house keeping business and hire day workers. You can help locals in your community. It also gives people who are in recovery from Alcohol and Drugs something to do so they don't fall back into bad habits. All you have to do is administrate and hire a few full time managers.

I take it back. I just got done researching the handbill laws where I live ... WAY more trouble than it's worth. Especially if I'm planning to scale it nationally ...

Okay, maybe not MORE trouble than it's worth, but more trouble than I want right now.

Indeed.com is a job search site that gives web publishers the ability to create their own job boards on their own site using the database of millions of jobs available through indeed.com.
