I have an idea for a piece of software that I can write which has the potential to be used by a number of people in the autoblogging community. I would like to offer the software for free but still make some money for my time involved. I don't want to sell the program. I want a method I can apply in the program that would generate long term profits. The software would be similar to other autoblogging software out there with a few extra fetaures such as not being limited to wordpress blogs (ie wp-robot,wp-o-matic, etc).

Has anyone got any ideas on ways to monetize this ?

    Thanks.

You could build a list by having the software made so that, before someone could actually use it, they would need to opt-in and get a password to enable it. Then market other products to your list.

Try a CPA gateway before downloading the product. If it's good enough, people will take their time to complete a survey for it.

You could also try some CPA co-register allowed download offer with your software.
