I propose that all avid gamers can make a significant amount of money in IM and online in general. I am not going to provide an example or method how to make money while playing a specific game, or any game at all..but more how you can take your gaming mindset, and apply it to the IM world to make it more game like.

It appears that most gamers enjoy the standard formats in their particular genre.
    FPS players enjoy high competition.
RPG players enjoy leveling up and completing quests.
    Puzzle gamers like solving problems.
    This goes on and on.

When developers make games, they design them to be fun for the gamer. The key to making money online as a gamer is to take your genre or game of choice, and figure out WHAT you enjoy about that game. You want to take the most basic very core of the game design and apply it to your IM.

Take for example the FPS player. If you enjoy the competitive scene, then you need to figure out a way to make your IM campaigns competitive.
-Pair up with a friend and see who can make the most money. Challenge eachother.
-Learn how google ranking and SEO works and compete for specific spots and keywords in google.
    - Compete against yourself to try and make more money than you did the week prior, over and over.

Take the RPG player. You enjoy leveling up and seeing your characters grow, and going on quests.
-Pick a project you like, customize it (character creation), start your tutorial quests (learn and research), and start grinding those levels.
-Treat every failure or success as an accomplishment. Realize you may not have defeated the entire dungeon or area, but you DID gain some experience towards your next level.
-No matter what you are doing, as long as you are questing, you are gaining experience to level up.

    Steps to beat the game.
    1. Lay out your plan of attack or your quest log.
    2. Decide what goals you have.
    3. Make smaller sub-goals or achievements.
    4. Give yourself reasonable rewards for those achievements.
    5. Make it as fun as possible. If you need more literal encouragement, create a character name and print out an experience bar. Fill it up as you start to earn money.
    6. Use your imagination. You have a quick and analytical mind made for this type of thought. You are capable of grinding out levels, competing against others, and taking new and unique approaches to tasks.
    7. Cash in those rich rewards and spend that gold you have earned to BUY THINGS THAT WILL HELP YOU PROGRESS FURTHER!

I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Some people on here mention that you must treat IM as a business to succeed. I say, that if you treat IM as you would your main dedicated character in an RPG game, you will MORE than succeed.

Learn the tips and tricks, find the glitches and hacks, grow your friends list, create or join a guild (is BHW your guild?), and don't stop grinding for those levels!
People will spend MONTHS grinding to get a new set of armor on their gaming character. Well dammit...right now you are going to grind out your IM levels and make enough money to purchase that armor 500 times over!

    Go do it now!

FPS games high competition and SEO competition is two different things.

Not at the heart of things. You have to put time, research, and practice into both. You gain the thrill of beating someone else.
I'm not trying to say, "the skill of wielding a game controller in such a manner can be applied to ranking a website". If that is what you think then you missed the point.

Well, you are talking about Gamification, bringing game mechanics in non-game contexts.

I tell my little brother and cousin all the time... Record some gameplays... make some money... They don't even try.

I mainly read in this section and know BHW for a long time, registered a few days ago, though.

You can always learn something new (usually the replies are more informative).

    Topic
    1. Get into a MMORPG
    2. Collect its currency by fighting monsters
    3. Sell for cash (PayPal, Bitcoins whatsoever.)
    4. Profit ???

Give them the people what they want.

I like the idea of your post, but I would rather go with IM skills instead. You can use this knowledge at a lot of areas unlike gaming. Just my 2 cents.
