✅ Relevance beats DR/DA: A smaller niche site in your industry often drives better results than a big general site.
✅ Contextual links matter: Links placed naturally within useful content outperform generic “read more” or sidebar links.
✅ Traffic & engagement: Google seems to value links from pages that get real visitors.

I’m seeing the same trends. Relevance and context matter more than ever.
I usually look at topic match, real traffic on the page, clean outbound links, and how naturally the link fits. If the content wouldn’t make sense without the link, it’s usually not worth placing.
 
Relevance really is the new PageRank. I’d rather have a link from a 'DR 20' blog that’s strictly about my sub-niche than a 'DR 70' general news site. Also, I’ve noticed that getting a few social shares on the guest post itself helps Google index and 'trust' the link much faster these days.

One extra thing I check is site history. I look for sites that have stayed in the same niche for 1–2+ years with stable traffic and older posts still ranking. Google seems to trust links more from long-term consistent sites.

what if u live in third world where people dont have blogs and the only way is some shity news sites from other similar countries
 
Totally agree with this - relevance and quality really win now. I’m focusing on smaller niche sites that actually have my target audience instead of chasing big DA lists. If the site gets real traffic and I can place the link naturally inside useful content, the results are way better. I’d rather land 3 strong links a month than 20 random ones that don’t move the needle.
