Last year (summer 2009) I've been real busy on my online business. I focused on building blogs and getting them traffic. (blog, seo, backlinks, affiliate, adsense). I spent about $46,000 on this project and only made $2,000.

This year (summer 2010) I want to focus on SELLING. (own product, site flipping, info product, drop shipping, membership, and all my sites from 09) My goal is to make $250,000 a year from this projects minimum.

If you're selling online, please offer some advice on how to achieve this goal through selling. I may need to trim my selling methods into one or two. I just need to figure out which one will bring positive ROI.

My main goal atm is to make enough money to start my selling business too. What I count on is originality of items I will sell, and unbeatable price. If you want to do dropshipping, focus on finding a good supplier. Also 250k a year is quite high goal, good luck with that.

250K is very high. You will need to source products yourself so that you have them on hand. This is better for warranty and quick dispatch of goods.

When it comes to dropshipping, you are making money, but usually the amount is rather small per sale. Normally, I believe, you profit (after fees etc) about $10-$15 per item. Some items you get more after all the fees etc, but all in all, having them on hand, taking in-house photos to show your customers (hint: take a video, upload to YouTube and include it in your eBay / other auction page - this increase sales) is always a better option.

You may want to try selling on eBay and Amazon. Choose a product, and sell it on eBay. Then, check the number of searches people make for it on a monthly basis. Find a good keyword to target that is not too competitive. Buy a domain with the KW in the domain for your item you're selling on eBay. Install wordpress on it, do some on-site SEO, set up WP robot to post related content automatically, and also put pictures / features of your item on there, and then you can direct link to your eBay page (gives credibility as the buyers can see your feedback etc) and this should help you make quite a few more sales, as opposed to just using eBay traffic.

That being said, once you become really good and get a lot of sales, you might want to try and set up a site that collects the payment itself instead of sending traffic to eBay, as then you are just making more money for eBay.

If you spent $46,000 and made $2,000 your just not in the right business I think.......Wouldn't you stop spending and move on to something else before you had spent that much? Can you hook me up with $20k ill give you atleast $40k back in a month

The promise of course was that if you build it, they will come. (rankings, backlinks) The building of backlinks was slow and spread out across multiple sites. There were investments made on articles and their submission. So the spending didn't "stop" since the promise of recouping that investment will (I was told) happen much later on. As you are well aware, there's been some search engine developments that, among other things, prevented the desired outcome for the sites.

$46,000 is quite a big investment, especially online and getting $2k back is just, well I think you have been screwed

Either the team you have invested money on didn't work and just got the money or they were professional noobs from DP

Nevertheless, most of us in here making money online haven't spent more than 2-5k and that goes only for servers, bots, domains, outsourcing and stuff like that

Right now I'm experimenting myself on 5 different niches (meaning I have 5 different sites). I have found a good product for each of them, added adsense, done a good research and now its just about time for the money to roll in

My advice, if you have the money but don't have a clue about online stuff you either stay away or find someone trustable who can deliver results, not bullcrap

46k.....

You would been fine just puting 45 of that into gold and silver, and spending 1k on buying a website ranking for a keyword monitize it, then get your money back, then sell it.

Anyways you can do a cash for gold thing, where you buy peoples ipod's and you sell them on gazell for money. But buying ipods for 40-50$ to get a 25$ profit is hard but if it is done can be a good money maker.

People are going to become more desprate for money, selling an iphone 4g for 300$ sounds pretty good when your stomach is empty because you lost your job.

I am pretty sure he MADE $2000... as in profit. I.E. $48,000.

It is very annoying when people say "lol I made 3 million", if they spent 2.99 million to make it IMO :)

Although If I am wrong that just makes me speechless.

Selling services online has always worked for me. I'm selling a service online that does pretty good. Very low cost up front, less than $100 bucks. You purchase the product to resell to your customers. The product is a service, no mailing anything, all done online. PM me and I'll point you in the right direction. That goes for anyone reading this, glad to help!
