How to Let Google Know that your site is a Brand for 7 Results?

    Trying to figure out what signals G is looking at to determine what makes a site a Brand and thus allowing them to display 7 results instead of 10 as opposed to search terms that are general quieres or just brand related such as IBM computer reviews etc..

    there are a lot of untrusted sites that have that have 7 results

    yeap.. even i am seeing the same.. atleast the Higher PR sites are getting those 7 results in no time..!

    I'm curious of what you think makes a site untrusted?

    Just like with any of G's ranking factors, Brand site's have factor's within themselves...

    1. Content on site
    2. Site's linking in (are they trusted?, promoting the brand?, high quality?, authorative links?)
    3. Social Awareness (Are REAL users promoting the brand/site)
    4. Quality of Social Awareness (Are the users actively engaged? Who are the user's connections?)
    5. Account Associations (Is this site associated with a Google account? What other sites are associate with the Google account? What IP's have accessed Google in relation to this site and are they associated with site's within a Google account?)
    6. Search Rate (how many searches for this particular site)
    7. Conversion on Search Rate
    8. Conversion on keywords within searches
    9. 3rd Party Account Verification (Is this site associated with any other sites that verified their validity, such as Google maps, Google Places, Facebook, Youtube Video Locations, Yellowpages, D&B (Dunns & Bradstreet), BBB (Better Business Bureau), LinkedIn info...etc

    The list goes on and on, but these are a few main factors...

    <meta name="brand" content="display 7 results">

    Should do the trick.

    concentrate on creating the brand, rather than what Google will think about you. Build sites for humans, not robots

    One of the best signals of a brand are the site's search queries. Branded sites are searched for commonly by their trade name. And the bounce rate for branded search queries is extremely low.

    brand searches and conversion rate is high. If this could be determined than it could be a huge benefit for clients.
