This is the case: I find a great KW and a few accompanying long-tail KWs. I want to use it to promote my site. I check Google for competition and then I find another sites showing up on the top of search results.

My question is: How can I know if I have a chance against those sites? Are they also optimized for such word or they showed on first place due to the lack of serious competition?

Should I just use some SOC tool like MNF or there is another (better) way? What do you do in such situation?

    Thanks

Use Market Samurai and you will have better idea of it... Apart from that you will have to judge your resource and other stuffs if they are enough to outrank competition or not.

People and acronym's... You know you're getting old when you don't know what any of the abbreviations everyone use mean.

Verilix, it's not because you are getting old, it's because you are getting slow.

If you fight long and hard enough for #1 keyword(s) placement, you can get it. Market Samurai is free for 12 days simply by submitting your email on their site. It will help you judge how long and hard you must fight to hit #1. I've just launched a site for a new niche I'm in that has some stiff competition, but with my SEO knowledge and competitive drive, I'm willing to fight for it for as long as it takes because I know it will pay 6 figure months once I hit #1. When targeting a niche for organic search traffic, after you find how competitive it is, ask yourself if it is worth it.

Thanks guys. I even have formula for SOC, but never use it because MNF calculates it flawlessly. Yesterday, I tried Market Samurai (MS) and Travis and I was really surprised that Travis is pretty good free tool. Yet I could never get used to MS and its way of work. Truly, MNF is much more user friendly (too bad it still does not work well).
