Hi all, I want to buy some domains for a PBN and I'm wondering how would I know or can I check if the domain had been previously deindexed or penalized? Reason is, I obviously do not want to buy a useless domain that won't index.

    Thanks!

Create a new webmaster tools account for each domain on a different IP and attach the domain and see if it has penalties. Get a look at the backlinks of the domain and if you see anythign fishy just move on to the next domain. There is no way to tell 100% ever.

No one wants to buy such too, but atm, I don't think there is any tool that allows you to check that, but it's advisable to CHECk through the historical archive of the domains, check through there backlink profile to ensure that it as never being spammed , then you can go ahead and purchase if you found them worthy based on this two factors

Some of the expired domains are not really indexed but doesn’t mean that they are all bad or penalized. However, spammy backlink profile and abused history are one of the reasons why domains are penalized.

Check the domains in semrush to see if they had a drop in rankings.

do a check with Ahrefs and look for spammy backlinks.
the person you are buying from should refund you anyway if they don't get indexed.

Put some content on them. If g indexes the domain they are ok. Next search urdomain.com if ur domain pops first it's ok if not = potential penalty. This method is not bulletproof but can give some pointers about ur domains.

Google the exact http: version of the url. If your domain doesn't show up in page 1 results then it's likely a bad domain.

    So much crap again, jesus...

Tools like this are a total bullcrap. :)

That means domain isn't indexed. That's all it shows, so please, don't misguide people.

OP wants to buy domains and wants to know WHAT to check before he buys and registers them.

So what you should do. First of all, check anchors in Majestic or Ahrefs and see if there is anything sketchy. If you see any bad anchors, throw the domain away. Same goes for backlinks. If you see them being weird or way too many nofollows, low number of referring Cclass IPs, then throw it away.

Then check Archive.org for previous PBNs or Asian content. If you won't find any, move next.

Check domaintools screenshots, check previous Asian/PBN content as well, if there isn't any, move to the next step.

Check hosting history and check anything sketchy. Parking DNS are fine, but avoid "Domaincontrol" (Godaddy) for longer time periods and other major hosting DNS, especially after a periods of "nothing". If the domain wasn't hosted at all or was parked and all of a sudden there is a Godaddy hosting for a year in 2014 - 2016, you can be sure that the domain is screwed.

Send me your email if you want, I can copy you my thorough guide from Jr VIP section.

First of all thanks for everyone trying to help.

Nargil thanks for your input, some of the things you mentioned here I don't know how to check like how to check for low number of cclass IP's etc. I'll pm you my email hoping the guide would go into more detail. Thanks a lot!

Use wayback machine. In case of doubt register the domain, add one article and let it index naturally. If it was deindexed due to spam it might not hold its initial value, but there is no way to test it without taking action.
