i want to buy pbns and use them as 301s.

if pbn is not indexed how can I index it (since i can't post videos on the url or do things like that since i just want to 301 it for the juice)

Expired domain, you mean? For the most link juice:

Buy it, put some content on it, build links to it, ping it, wait and make sure it's indexed, then do the 301.

Do you need to have it indexted in order for all the link juice to pass through from the links that were build to the domain?

Not necessarily, but it looks more natural if you build the links to a page with content on it, rather than straight to a redirecting page. And if you do it like this, it will probably be found and get indexed fairly quickly anyway. It obviously requires more work from you, but it would be safer and more natural. It's up to you whichever way you choose. The link juice won't be influenced.

You dont have to index the site first but I would recommend it.

If its taking too long just make a extra google webmaster tools account and you can index it within 5 minutes.

Most of the time you can just 301 it, send a few links or social signals to it, and it'll index. However, sometimes it might take more time to index. In those cases, I'd recommend the GWT idea by asap1.

Use it as a real website first, get it indexed then redirect it. If expired domains arent indexed, make sure you index them before doing anything. You can do hat through webmaster tools.

Never though about this.... Not sure if it needs to be indexed first or not? I guess most domains with metrics would still be indexed wouldn't they? And if not it would be a bad sign?
