If content is engaging , then only viewers will watch complete video. You should also keep the length not more than 8 minutes as it will bore viewers.

It will take time unless you are experienced. Anyone creating new channel will face this problem but it helps to learn a lot of things automatically as well.

Actually achieving 1000 is easy, achieving the watch time no, but everyones journey is different, however if you got 1000 subs before the views is a indication that you'll need 1400 or even 1800 subs before your monitsed as the retention doesn't add up, and don't expect your channel to grow.

Upload more videos of long length.
