Hi BHW, I'm a new member so here's some background: I'm a seo writer, blogger, and content strategist. I've only been in the seo world for >1/2 a year, but I've caught on quickly to the WH side of things. I read dozens of articles a day from blogs in all shapes and sizes so I have a good idea of the content quality out there...

The post I'm going to explain is not something you can spin or create in 1 hour. It takes thought and planning and most of it is a manual process (sorry). The rewards are only worth it if you value authorship, validation, reputation, traffic momentum and freelance writing opportunity increases. Here goes...

Step 1: Outline a niche topic with a number in the headline. Make the theme of your post "X Number" of "tips" or "quotes" or "strategies" or "advice" - anything that allows you to honor high authority influencers and organizations. The "X Number" you choose must be at least 30 or higher.

Step 2: Outline the article (the final result should be at least 1500 words). Break it down by numbers (duh) and either research the theme yourself or pay a micro-worker to do it for you (maybe odesk or something) - it's better to do it yourself. For each "tip" or "quote" make sure you pick people or organizations within that niche that have massive social followings (say anything over 10,000 twitter followers, but really shoot for the stars on this, you'll be surprised at the results). Additionally, make sure the tip or quote from them is really good - not something fluffy. Add examples to more of their content or a short bio explaining who they are and what they do, why they're great - basically sucking up to each person.

Step 3: Finish the article, making proper edits, organizing, and most importantly links to the people you are "honoring". This is the most important part and this is why it's a longer process (you're finding quality advice from 30+ people). Make an excel sheet/google spreadsheet where you log everyone you're linking to and all their publicly accessible contact info.

Step 4: Post your article and reach out to each influencer letting them know 1) you linked to them and 2) you featured a tip/quote and 3) why they're great. Tell them feel free to share your article - it would mean a lot. Follow-up with any who don't respond at least 1 time after a couple days. Record all of the ones who shared

Bonus Points: Email all the contacts while you're writing the article to ask them for a specific quote for an article you're writing. This is worth a shot, even if you have a low-traffic site, because if at least 1 or 2 of them respond, they're now already saying, "sure, I'd love to share this." Natural link building, natural traffic.

Promising Future: Record everyone who does share your post. You are now on their radar. You're future posts? Those people will be more inclined to share. You're future opportunities? Be real with these people by sending them humble emails asking for advice on your site, an article you're working on, or even feature them in an interview. If all goes well, you'll experience the snowball effect. Basically, temporary momentum that you can continue to build upon.

    Hope that helps/sparks some ideas.

    Cheers!:drinking2

I like it. SURF their egos. Most people like outside validation. Looks like a great way to get backlinks as well as social media shares. I also like your focus on BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS.

Thanks! I'm glad you've found it useful. I also like the "SURFing ego" metaphor :)
You'll be surprised at how the authors on authority sites you read are happy to share an article like this, regardless of how popular you are. The important thing is to make sure your identity looks real, you know, a real name + solid headshot, a humble bio, a twitter account with at least a few hundreds followers, G+ authorship, some guests posts on legit sites, etc...

This is why you should go for at least 30:
    Increased chances of getting shares.
think of it like this: every tip or quote is like an extra free lottery ticket. More chances plain and simple. Don't be afraid to dream big and go for 100...it's the crazy enough ideas - those epic list posts, that snowball like crazy with the proper promotion and follow ups.
