Hell. I'm not that good at hardware part and I'm finding hard to connect a SATA HDD to my old IDE motherboard. The thing is that before I had a sick power supply (and it worked before). Now I bought one better power supply, made all connections, everything it's fine, the PC is power on but I can't make the connections throught HDD and is appearing a message " DISK FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK" (I don't know the exact message but I know that is from HDD). I mention that the HDD SATA was connected before (with the old power supply) but now I'm sure that I miss something...

I also have a HDD cable connector but I don't have where to connect on my HDD. Hope that someone can help me.

    Thanks

looks like you somehow plugged in your molex-sata adapter backwards, and possibly fried your hdd in the process.

see how the red and yellow wires don't match up at that connection? the red is 5V and the yellow is 12V.

First thing I would bother is, if you have an OS installed in the hard drive. Probably thats why the PC says Insert System Disk.

And in my PC, I cant connect my cable the wrong way as the jack just allows me to connect it the right way, and I think its like that for all the PCs.

I tried also with the previous power supply and it's appearing the same message so seems that my HDD is fried.
