Hey guys, sorry I am sure there are 100's of these threads around. I have searched a ton of stuff, and read a lot, but am still a little confused, or not sure?

Well, I am not the write of this blog, I just do some SEO for the person to try and rank it.

Its a blog that talks about a lot about that persons opinion, the sections they have are

    • Sex
    • Men
    • Love
    • Friends
    • Health
    • Marriage Problems
    • Being a Parent
    • Work Ethic
Some of the recent articles written where

What does a Woman find Attractive in a Man -Men section
A Real Bestfriend - Friend section
    Winter Sickness -Health section
    Ovarian Cancer -Health section
    Bad Bosses -Work Ethic
Dying to be Beautiful - Health
    Text Messages -Love
    Does Size Really Matter? -Sex

So these are all based on opinions, really. They dont solve any problems. I use Yoast SEO and put in keywords that the person talks about in the article. They dont know anything about ranking, keywords and whatnot, so I just let them write their article, and then I find keywords and tinker around with the article.

The thing is, I just used Rankerizer (I just heard about a SERP for the first time tonight, so I just tried this thing, it was free) to look up my keywords. And it only showed that I was ranked for 3 keywords. Out of the 53 articles/keywords we have at the moment.

So, I am not really sure how to get traffic over here. The website is based on I guess "Free Advice", more just opinions of this person.

Im just a friend helping them out. I am no SEO expert, but I do have knowledge in this, as my other website gets decent traffic, but I use very specific keywords that few people look up or even rank for, so in the end I get constant unique visitors.

But I see a lot of people say backlink and all that, but I dont know where I would start, since this is more of a personal life blog, how would I go about getting quality links, so I dont screw up the site?

I have a facebook fan page, its hard to get traffic there, but I am getting some. But, anyone know how I can rank this site? I mean, the keywords I use are quite odd to me. And they are either high or low.
But the problem is, the person puts the title (what they are talking about), and then doesnt mention it again. So, its extremely hard for me to find keywords when their title is them asking a question, or them giving a statement, then writing on that.

    So, the title is
Why is it hard to fall Asleep at night?
then in the article they talk about getting little sleep, their age, and what they do throughout the day.
    So I use
Why is it hard to fall Asleep at night?
as the keyword, but it is put nowhere inside the article. And Sleep is a keyword ranked way to high for the blog, so I try and use odd keywords/more specific.

But, I have only seemed to have gotten 1 organic hit from google
and 1 organic hit from Yandex.

Other than that, its just some facebook referrals.

The person has 53 articles written, A+ great content, but I just dont know how to rank them anywhere in Google? Content is original, and the person is a fantastic editor.

    Any help here?
    Thanks!

Let me know if I should link the site here cause I will. The look of it is nothing special, just a normal blog roll, but I would like to get some traffic before paying for a nice sleek theme for them. We have adsense on the site, and facebook, g+ and all the share this post stuff.

Just not sure how to rank them when they dont use their keywords in their articles. They just write a title, and talk about it, but dont solve it. I also cant use keywords like gym, love, sex, cause those are ranked so high, and my site will never be seen.

Well, this is as simple as it gets but try registering at some related forums and addind the link of blog with some description to forum signatures and post something like 10 posts per day to couple of blogs, preferably related to these articles. For example in some health forums: "Find useful information on curing your winter sickness here: yourblog"
Also try guest blogging, it will brind you some decent backlinks and quality traffic if the articles are really good.
    Best of luck!

    My personal blogging method:

You don't need backlinks. Go for lower competition keywords. What you could do is find some keywords you know you will easily rank for, and give that to your authors as a topic.

The two free tools I use are:

Google Keyword Tool for checking traffic
    https://adwords.google.com/o/KeywordTool

Learn2Rank Keyword Inspector for checking competition
    http://www.learn2rank.com/members/keyword-inspector/

Then just promote stuff for days on social exchange sites like addmefast or link collider.

Suggestion: you don't need to rank for high competition keywords, find something related to "gym" like "how to gym while eating a banana" for instance. This should rank much higher much more easily because it's long tail and usually much less competitive. You can go to http://www.keywordbuzz.net/ to get related keywords for free.

Ah great idea, I am definatley going to try that. I may know a few forums I could do that one :)
So, if I did guest blogging, once I got the backlink, it would rank me higher in the search engines for my keywords right? Cause I've heard its all about links.

Do you know any places I could get the person to guest blog on? Or any networks that are reliable, and not just crappy spam re-posters (I am new to this stuff sorry)?
I was thinking about NaturalNews, since they know a lot about health, and serious stuff, so I would probably sign them up there at some point, but any other ideas?

Thanks for these, didnt even think of anything like this :)

Well that's one of my problems, I don't give the person subjects to write on. My friend writes what she wants, as part of her personal blog. So it's extremely hard. Also, if I told her what to write, the quality would probably go down. She writes anything that goes to her head, then I seo it. Well... try at least. So that's my big issue. She writes, then doesn't keyword optimize it, nor do I know what she is gonna write this day. I mean, I could tell her how to write, but it kinda harms the process of it begin hers. I'll try telling her tommorow and see what happens though.

I use the google tool 24/7, that's the only way I find keywords to rank for as of now, since the way she writes is brutal, and her keywords are not even in the articles. Keyword is only in the title, Link, meta title, meta description, but not in the content :(

I did use addmefast to get the Facebook page started. It worked quite well :)
should I just use it 24/7? I mean, I use the macro, so unlimited points pretty much :)

Well I do use longer keywords, but she doesn't use them in the articles, so it's so hard to get it done. I am thinking extremely quality backlinks, and Facebook are her only chance of begin seen.

For personal blogs you don't really need to go down the SEO route in my opinion. Start leveraging twitter and facebook, share lots of other peoples blogs and comment on their blogs and build relationships to establish yourself as a major player. Then begin adding more and more SEO based content as your site starts to get some natural links and authority behind it.

Great personal blogs thrive of Word of Mouth based ads and recommendations. Social is the way to go if you ask me. If you want to hurry things along why not try getting some shares on peoples fan pages.

Thank you guys. I just got some time, so I will try these tommorow. Any other suggestions, or links that could help me? I am super noob with ranking this kind of content, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Also, random question. If I have google adsense approved on my site, how could I get her site approved? Or would I just use my current account and not have to register her site? I can't find a register another site button.
