    Intro:

So I'm trying to get my YouTube channel going, but I can't seem to get any sort of momentum, I mean I'm not trying to get in the top 100 YouTube or make big bucks off it but I would love to get the ball rolling, get some views following in some subscribers now and then and some interaction so that there is at least a bit of hope or steady growth. At the moment I have about 10 videos, 10 subscribers and about 1-100 views (half which are my own views/clicks) on my videos. I have been on YouTube for a couple of months now, the content is my own so not at risk of copyright or anything. However the results are poor considering I have used most of the tools below and have risk my account by using them.

Tube toolbox - This software has gone pretty weak in terms of results. PMing, Video sharing, or simply adding contacts doesn't seem to get noticed by others, it seems that YouTube has made changes that hides messages deep inside the inbox without any notifications. So decided to do Video commenting instead with a set of 15 different messages and after the 3rd or 4th comment all the other comments get hidden by youtube it seems like it detects maybe a couple of similar words from my messages and deciding to block it or something (and I can't come up with 15 messages that won't use a few similar words).

Bot Views - I thought buying views was probably the surest way of gaining popularity or giving a video the boost for it to start gaining views on it's own, but first time I bought views (from a reputable seller here) my video got removed a few days later so that seems like a no go unless I want a perm suspension.

Legit way - OK, so you make a good quality & content video, you give it a great specific title, you fill out the description box and tags like all the countless amounts of (legit) tutorials tell you, and then you spend the rest of your day working your butt off networking /posting on forums/reddit etc, and trying to get a few measly views on your video, then what?!? That video will sit there for the rest of it's lifeline collecting maybe 1-2 views a week because searching for your ****ing keywords you put in the title or description or tags doesn't bring up your video in the search engine and if it does it will be placed on the 20th page or something. Youtube makes no attempt to bring attention to your video because there's already many popular videos with those very specific keywords and phrases.

Subscriber Train, view ly, etc - Not only these sites run a risk of account suspension but they are not even that powerful or bring any significant results, I mean 5 subscribers every 3 days (subscribers that won't even bother to watch your videos) is not even worth risk in itself.

    Conclusion:

So has YouTube gone Ape s*** and basically put tons of restriction that basically tries it's best to block all types of growth for channels whether it's legit/non-legit. It certainly does seems like a bad time to start creating content on you tube as they seem to be happy with their already popular channels and basically telling everyone else to P-off.

Are there any good methods out there that are working for people?

It seems like all the s*** techniques are shared (especially in tutorials/advice videos) whilst all the good stuff that might work is kept secret, it would be great to know what all these popular channels did to get popular, did they just buy views at the right time? Did they just play youtube when it was possible? Or did they really some how miraculous start picking up views because people suddenly started to rush towards their low viewed videos because their content was THAT GOOD.

All you really need to do to get the ball rolling on your youtube channel is make a marketing plan and stick to it. Like really if Angry Joe can do it I think anyone really can.

    You forgot the best way:

Buy a few hundred twitter accounts (aged would be best)

Have a VA change the bios/URL's to your vid and go and follow 100 people or less per day every day. The twitter accounts won't get suspended and you will get hundreds of views per day with likes/subs/comms to boot.

You can definitely still grow a channel...stop blaming YouTube. What do you want them to do? Force people to watch your videos?

10 subs in a couple of months, you are doing something wrong. Either your content is shit or you aren't promoting properly. You don't "work your butt off networking"; networking isn't something you work...Unless your idea of networking is spamming "CHECK OUT MY SIK MONTAGE ON CHANNUL! YOUTUBE.COM/SWAG420SNIPEZ" everywhere.

What exactly do you mean or entail when you say Marketing Plan?

Thanks, i'll take a look at how I can may be able to use twitter to drive some views, haven't really used it much myself.

All I gathered from that is: Stop blaming YouTube, You're doing something wrong, Your content is ****, you aren't promoting properly, networking isn't random spamming of l33t words.

Thumbs up! Best advice ever, you should look into a career in teaching man you are a natural! :)

That's clearly what your doing if you 'work' networking. You don't force a relationship. You claim to be 'networking', yet don't use one of the largest social media sites. Spamming on forums and reddit isn't promoting.

Act edgy all you want, but it's one or the other. Bad content or bad promoting.

But hey, not like i'm a guy at 10 subs after months of work. Just keep blaming YouTube brah.

To make money you need to spend money. Have you thought about advertising/promoting your videos through adwords or external websites that promote your videos through social media e.g. Push Views. For adwords, a daily budget of $10 gets you around 250 - 1000 views per day, while external websites will cost you around $10 weekly. If your content is awesome, then your videos will quickly get momentum and they will start to gain views on their own without further advertising.

Well, I don't know in what kind of niche you are (gaming, comedy, etc.), but there probably is a suiting sub-reddit on Reddit for it. There you have a targeted audience and if your videos are good, the views, likes and subscribers will start to come naturally.

Best of luck to you and your YT-career:)

In my opinion I believe the only person that should be blamed for failure is yourself.

You might get more specific help if you told what niche you targeting.

But one good way to start to get views off of original content is to try to piggy back off other established channels that are doing similar things.

You have to remember that there are countless hours of videos being uploading every minute so your videos have to compete in the market place.

Pretty much. YouTube is so simple. Good content -> Word of mouth marketing. Done.

Subs, comments, likes, w/e you want will all roll in.

It's just that normally people overestimate the quality of their own videos. But that's just human nature.

    Hey guys,

A lot of good advices here, I'm taking notes down to test these new methods, so thanks!

So just a few questions (sorry if these are newbie questions):

Firstly I'm in the gaming (comedy) niche so any additional help would be great.

    1. About the twitter account, why is it necessary to buy lots of accounts? How does following others drive back views? is it the curiosity of people checking out their followers? What does VA stand for? Admins?

nobodyspecial: When you say piggy back off other established channels do you mean like copy their SEO (Titles, Description, Tags etc) or do you mean like try to talk to them and get them to promote you in some form or another, usually big channels don't really respond to anything.

Lenoh02: some examples of word of mouth marketing please, can you share a few good tips? At the moment I haven't digested any tips from you except that I'm bad at what I do brah...

Really appreciate the feedback guys, Thanks!
