I see all the time people on wordpress sites have their PDF files from the media section get indexed. Recently I wanted to get one of mine indexed but I can't seem to do it. It's odd because the file at lets say

    myexamplesite.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/My-File-Example.pdf

Shows as indexable on my index check extension when I view the page, but when I go to check the url on Google Search Console and request indexing it always comes back with the message "Oops! Something went wrong".

I never tried to get a pdf file indexed before on a site of mine so can't so I have much experience with this, anyone know why exactly this is happening ?

You can also index it by using bulkaddurl (you create a free account and you can sumbit it) :)

I'm a noobie, so I don't know if this would work at all. Also, without other details, it's hard to say. If it fits your model, this is what I would try:

Make it appear that your pdf is in some exclusive members section or something. Create the illusion of exclusivity. This would come in next. Then I'd get my hands on some social media accounts that have never been associated with the site or heavy marketing. (Where users can see your history). Then I'd go to communities where the PDF is relevant. I'd say something along the lines of "I've been following this site for some time now. He somehow made this info accessible to the public. Normally this info is $xx from him." Doing whatever I could to get the clicks. I'd also only use half the communities that I could exploit.

Hopefully, the influx of traffic would get an index.

Before I'd do all of that, I'd check to see the G's rules on PDF indexing. Maybe a prohibition of affiliate links or something. I'd also cross my T's and dot my I's in terms of my SEO plugin and WP settings.

If that didn't work, I'd try to create a landing page that leads to the PDF — making it rich in text and keywords that the PDF is targetting. Then I'd do the same as above for the landing page and use the other half of the social communities. Before doing any of this, you could try the landing page by itself and leading to the PDF. Then do a URL inspection and request indexing. You could probably create a PDF summary or whatever in less than an hour.

Leveraging authority in your meta, social, etc. might help with the clicks/traffic and indexing.

Just now saw your name is "gamingseo," is there a possibility that there's no indexing due to a DMCA?
