    Hi BHW,

My dad has a retail clothing store (offline). I want to help him make more money as he is struggling a lot to pay for my college and medical bills.

I want to reach out to a lot of potential customers who search online for Shirts, Jeans, etc in my district. I'm not in a position to invest any amount of money for this :(
How do I go about this?

Start a blog on a free blogging platform, SEO it and give the address and contact info in the blog? or
Start a static website on free hosting service, SEO it and give the address and contact info?

I will be putting images of the store and clothing available.
I won't be adding content to it regularly ( so a website?).

Basically all I want it is to use the internet to bring in more customers to the offline store located in India. How do I accomplish this?

    Thanks!!

My friend told BHW has many Internet gurus and highly accomplished IMers.

Any advice even if very little is appreciated.

I'd suggest Blogging platforms over free web hosting, a paid server is the ONLY way to run an appropriate website. You could invest in a domain name which isn't expensive, and apply it to your Blogger/Weebly/Tumblr (whichever you choose).
As for promotion, since you're selling clothing & merchandise you can get into Pinterest as I hear the crowd there is highly interested in fashion and converts well.
Build other mini-blogs on the same subject and link them to your Main Blog, and/or get in touch with popular fashion bloggers and discuss what you can do to promote eachother. Get creative man!

Does he sell any specific brands people may search online?

Get a domain, don't do it on a free platform
Search for local SEO and learn the basics, since your dad won't be selling online you need to focus on local searchers
Optimize for your location, if it is a really small town focus both on the town and the nearest large city
Don't rely on images, images alone are harder to rank, use images but do add at least a description and a UNIQUE paragraph
Add the domain and the store information to all the LOCAL listings/directories available
Optimize google maps (don't be lazy, plenty of information online)
If he sells brand items try to create a page for the Brand -> Location -> DaddyStore.com
Make sure the website is mobile friendly and include the contact information.

The list goes on and on of things you may do...

I would use a wordpress website and use static pages at the place of posts, it works really well and it is easy to set up.

    Good luck!
