Would this idea work, lets say I go to the library,
I find a really old book, and I go borrow it bring it home
(this book is related to my niche)

then I just start copying all the pages from that book
(if you type fast you can type up pages and pages of content in just an hour)
and post it as unique content on my website

of course, this book must not have been indexed on the internet
and yes, you will be violating copyright laws, but what if you included
at the end of the content to give credit to the original author, ie. this was taken from somethingsomthing book by author

Anyone think this idea will work?

Yes, it would work. You'll break your fingers typing, but it will work.

If you're going to copy old content like that you should at least try and do it with ocr software or if that fails get your hands on Dragon and dictate that copy. Much much faster.

Giving credit to an author does not relieve you from the fact you're publishing someone elses work. If the work still falls under current copyright laws you've set yourself up for a huge lawsuit.

Look for works that are in the public domain. These you can give the author credit and there are no royalties payable.

^ yeh he's correct, there are some good ocr programs that can translate the words to editable text on the computer, you need a pretty good scanner though.

You could always just go onto Google Books and look at Public Domain and Copyright Expired books.

You can just copy and paste, saving you a lot of time and a lot of aching fingers.

EDIT: Just read you dont want it already indexed...but google books have practically every book ever written i think, or they plan to.

Just find some closed community, there is a lot of non-indexed content.
