    Hello

a friend of a friend has a domain that he wants to sell. I cant disclose what it is due to privacy reasons, but if I give a description can you appraise it?
It's a one word .com domain. Its something related to real estate.

    It's as neutral as

    landlord.com
    property.com
    rescue.com
    record.com

    It has no backlinks.

based on this information, can you give me a rough idea? like is it worth $1,000 or $10,000 or $100,000?

Thanks, I actually googled domain appraisal and came upon estibot. but I find it hard to believe that a computer program can appraise a domain. I mean we dont know where they get their numbers from. do they pull it out of their ass or how do they do it?

This is why crowd-sourced valuations don't work.

Do you really think a "valuation" is accurate if it has been completed by a bunch of people who just want a free $19 listing?

@ OP - can't answer the question without knowing the domain, the info you provided is too general. Best way to get a sense check of valuation with a domain is to find similar sales. DNjournal is good for this: http://www.dnjournal.com/ytd-sales-charts.htm

if it's just the domain no site then you'd be lucky to get 4 digits, you should have no problem getting around $500 though. Remember that this is just a rough estimation.

A dictionary word is a word that appears in the dictionary so you've answered that it does.

The problem with what you've given, even the examples you gave would have widely varied values but in the end, the value is what someone else is willing to pay for it - and there is only one way to find that out for sure (put it up for sale - but don't try to do that here unless you become a Jr VIP and post it in a BST).

    Good luck with your domain,
    OS

If you have a one word industry word.com that you need to sell. You put it on godaddy auctions and you will soon see how the market values it.

However if its as good as it sounds you park it on sedo(and/or others) and keep long term renewing it until you get someone who wants to actually buy it and is prepared to pay.
