I was wondering what you would do in this situation..I'm fuming!!

My gf lived in a flat with another random flatmate (who also owns the flat)..

The flatmate owner is selfish and always lies..my gf gave 1 month notice, but after the notice they got in an arguement and she told me GF to leave. My gf moved out a few days later...

The landlady/flatamte is now not giving my GF her deposit back, instead she writes cheques with the wrong date on them on purpose (we are stupid becasue we didn't realise)..we gave back the housekeys at the same time...

She always makes excuses and says one day..Why are you worried about your deposit, it's in my savings account, then says the next day "sorry I can't give you deposit today as I've got no money"

    What would you do.....?!

Do you have the agreement papers with you. If so, Please report her to police.

If it was informal and you don't have a paper that says that you paid the deposit you have no leg to stand on I'm afraid.

She gave you a post dated check? I may be wrong but isn't that like against the law. By any chance did you fill out a lease or like anything on like paper? If you did you might be able to go to a court or something to get the money

Go and beat the flatmate's ass down.... take their wallet/purse and any jewerly they got on them. Put the jewelry in your pocket for now, then take it to a pawn shop asap, and take the cash out of the wallet/purse and throw everything else away in a dumpster or some shit that isn't any where close to where you kicked their ass..

    Then, job done...

    Good luck,

Not sure about in your country OP, but in US I'm 99% sure its illegal to give someone a post dated check. Attempt to cash the check at the bank it is drawn on (her bank) and let her take the shit for it with her bank.

I'm not entirely sure if you're being serious but, pawn shops have CCTV and police literally come in daily.

And no, it is not illegal (at least in the USA) to postdate checks.
