How to get a Japanese domain name?

Hi everyone!
Do any of you have experience with getting a Japanese domain?

Do you need to be a resident of Japan and have a Japanese address to get a Japanese domain name?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

A . jp domain can be registered by anyone, anywhere and are administered by Japan Registry Service (JPRS).
 
even godaddy offers jp domains so there is no problem with register it on any name/country etc

Yes, I saw this and Namecheap as well. My problem is also with further registration in the Japanese register and if it would be legit to have a domain of our company there.

You most likely can’t. Registering a .jp domain would require you to have a Japan credit card, which requires you to be physically in Japan to apply for.

There are registrars that offer a local contact service or local presence at an additional fee.
 
You can hire someone on fiverr or if you have a trusted japanese friend to purchase the domain for you.
