    How do I find out if a site is using Google webmasters tools or not ? I know I can check for Analytics by looking at the source code. But how do I check if they have webmasters ?

    Your help is much appreciated. Thanks.

    You can't know. There's nothing that you put on a site that would give that away. It's just Google passing info they have to webmasters.

    Check a site source, a good sign of WMT:

    Code:
    <meta name="google-site-verification" content="A lot of random chars ..."/>

    Why do you need to know is site using WMT or not?

    Cheers. Before you can add a site to your WMT, you must claim the ownership by adding a google verification ID and who else than WMT user does it.

    You can't count on the google verification code. I've done tons of them, usually on a custom page and always removed the page immediately after verification.

    Just checked Googles WMT verification page. There are 4 ways listed to verify. Nixmy is right that if a webmaster used the meta tag option and left it on the page you can identify by that. Custom verification page, which is what I use, can't be traced, DNS record change can be traced by pulling full dns records and searching for them. The fourth option is by already having a google analytics account that is verified so that probably wouldn't help.
