There are a few websites I am interested in purchasing, they are just parked..

what is the best way to find out what they are worth?

The few owners of the sites always say, make me an offer,

but how do I find out a ballpark to start at?

    thanks

When selling a website/business, the value is usually 12-30 months earnings + assets. In IM the assets are usually $0 unless you have a desirable premium domain name.

Be careful about tons of over inflated domain names on offer. I know people who have been seriously burned. I have written about fictitious characters on Whoisbid to protect them. Good luck! This is my first post here and I like the black background..LOL!

Monthly revs x 6-11 [depending on niche, traffic methods, how long the site has maintained those kind of revs etc.], if a high % traffic source is organic you pay more for that than for one that 'depends' on one site/method. Some 'traffic driving' techniques are so unpredictable that they may not even be worth twice the monthly revenue (usually the case with viral traffic).

There are a ton of factors, at the end of the day its worth what a buyer is willing to pay. I did a writeup on how I value websites I sell a little while back if you want to read it:
