    Hey guys,

I created a hairdressing website for a local business from a friend and also started a Google adwords campaign. I created almost 1200 keywords and 580 ads.

My max cpc for each keyword is 2.50 $ which is way over the average for this area. But there is still an ad from another hair salon on place one for their fb page.

Now I would like to know for which keywords they are going and why there ads get displayed before ours.

For example the search words: hairdresser redcliffe

I run about 50 different ads including these words but they won't get displayed.

I have already spoken with Google adwords, but they won't provide me any information.

    Anyone an idea?

    Thanks

You can use SEMRUSH to spy the competitors or Spyfu. I used both, sometimes I like Spyfu but SEMrush has better interface.

Try Open Site Explorer. This falls under the SEOmoz tools. To use this tool for keyword ideas, enter the competitor’s URL and go to the Anchor Text Distribution tab. This will show you up to 20 keywords that your competitor uses for anchor text when link building and how strong their link building campaign is with the number of root domains and links using that anchor text.

You can use Semrush and open site explorer. This will be pretty good.

Thanks guys for your suggestions. Unfortunately nothing works. Maybe because they use only their facebook page as url ? https://www.facebook.com/everlonghairsalon

I have no idea. i created 428 ads for almost 2000 keywords and won´t get ranked under hairdresser redcliffe.

First, you can find out your Google Adwords' competitors' target keywords through Spyfu.

You could also look at the specific ads that they run.

The reason why your ads are not showing and your competitors' are showing instead, is maybe due to the fact that they have a higher quality score than your ads.

As you know, when you take out pay per click placements on Google Adwords, quality scores play a big role in how much money you pay.

Even if you pay less money, but your quality score is very high, you still get more ad impressions.

Your ads show more than your competitors' even though they're paying more per click.
