I have access to two popular keyword reserach programs, NicheCracker, and LongTail Pro(Before you ask, I impulsively bought NicheCracker, and my friend has Long Tail Pro). I have read the manuals, but I want to know how you guys go about finding keywords and EMD's for amazon sites. Do you guys usually have a niche in mind before you do keyword research?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have access to the tools, but I don't really know how it works. Should I be looking for a product/niche before i research keywords, or after. I also really don't know what I should be looking for in reagrds to searches per month etc.

A lot of the tutorials on here are great, but they focus on googles keyword tool. From my understanding this tool ranks based on PPC competition ad words right? Im not really too sure, but I am looking for amazon niches.
