If I'm going to take on a client that has already has some SEO done to his site, is there a way to see a list of local citation sites his site is already listed on so I don't double add it and waste time?

You can use a service like Whitespark for example. Or you can google like this "adress xx" "business name" to find it manually.

Go to Brightlocal.com (If you are in the US, Canada, UK, or Australia - feel free to PM for my referral link). You do not need a credit card to get the trial.

Start the free trial, and run a citation report on your customer. If you are going to keep using this service (I do) set up the rank tracking, run a google local + report, and a website seo evaluation.

The citation report will show you all the current citations you have, a list of the ones you may have missed, and any pending that you have submitted from your efforts.

The seo evaluation will give you a quick in depth look at the top 20 pages of your site, as well as a general overview of the SEO status.

The Google local + report will bring up your competitors profile, so you can see where your listing compares to theirs.

I also use Xenu link checker to check for broken links, and validate the sites as much as possible.

If you do not want to join brightlocal, I will run the reports for you on demand for $20.
