The Ahrefs rank / DR of this site looks low, but the organic traffic looks good, is it worth working with it? The owner ask us to give him a $1000+ product for a review.

You should care for the traffic, not for silly metrics. That said, ask for real proof of traffic (GSC, google analytics numbers etc) as Ahrefs can be way, way off.

Tell him you were amazed at his offer, but the most you are willing to pay is the monthly ahrefs traffic value, which would be about $200-$250

He wants our product, and the product is not cheap.

I wouldn't pay. You can find better opportunities in our forum's marketplace, or sites like linksmanagement, adsy, postaga, etc.

I had a talk with a person who bought a guest post from one of my blogs in the past.

Basically, he checked ahrefs/semrush, and the stats were not that great.

Then he went checking a few keywords manually that was of his interest and saw my domain ranking in the top 6. So he went for it. Even with shitty metrics.

I might be a content agency owner but I'm still not done exploring this area of my interest. There are a lot of factors that goes into it. I would check Ahref, Console and Analytics impression and manually cross-check the promised keywords and their rank. People does a deep link check to scan for PBNs as well and most importantly the quality of Content. Yea but I did sell one of my first site for 10x profit tho so buying a site is all depended on the potential of that niche. (Foremost!)

I think there are better opportunities out there than this one, although organic traffic is definitely more worthy as a metric than other parameters. But, as the site's owner have a pretty high requirement and you're not sure is it worth a risk, then it's probably the better idea to move on and find someone more suitable.

Ask for google Analytics.

But to be honest, if you want reviews for your product you should either reach out to influencers in your niche by yourself.

Check out two things:
Their top pages by traffic on Ahrefs. Maybe they are ranking for some low comp very high volume keywords. If a few keywords pull in all the traffic then the stats are skewed. If they have a lot of keywords pulling in traffic that's a good indication that they can rank KWs

The other thing: do they have great social media presence? Are people engaging with their posts. You said they want a product for review. Let's say you already have reviews by high DR companies who will rank in the first page. Adding another site to second page won't do much. BUT if they can regularly pull 1-2K people from social media it might be worth it.

If you have no reviews yet from authority sources go for it. Since they will be the only review they will rank and whenever people search for your product + review they will click this site.

Hope this makes sense.
