I am planning to start selling my own digital product with PayPal as my online payment gateway. I realize that for certain sites which I have visited, some allow me to choose between paying by credit card straight or paypal, while the others require me to sign up for/ log into Paypal account to make payment.

Two options available ie credit card or paypal:

    Must log into paypal account:

I believe it is vital to allow the customers to choose between the two payment method. After all not everyone has a PayPal account. So anyone knows how I can make my paypal payment interface the same as in the first image above?

Even after typing the CC info in, you'll go to the next page in which you'll have to signup for a paypal account with that CC info lol...PP sucks donkey nuts!

I wasn't logged into my PayPal account under both circumstances.

Are you sure about it? If yes then PayPal really sucks. I have been thinking about what payment service to use so that my customers can pay by either credit card or PayPal. Then I notice most people if not all are using either Clickbank or PayPal.

It is. Try yourself on your test pages :)
You need to choose your username and password AFTER you type in your CC info. Thats why I chose to drop a few webhosters as it was too troublesome.

The difference is one of them being an approved business-merchant account at PayPal. Just set up a real business, merchant account with PayPal and your customers won't be required to have a PayPal account. It's under business services.

Plunge hit it on the head. You need to upgrade your paypal account to business to have this feature.
