It is very hard. I have 1Million impressions per month and only 2000 clicks to the website. CTR is horrible.

I'll give you a hint. Follow people that are following other peoples boards. Those people will engage more than the people who are just following the pinterest account its self.

Pinterest performance is very niche specific. Travel, fashion and food (and anything attractive to Pinterest’s predominantly female audience) work well. Other niches not so well...

This is good advice. Right now I've focussed a lot of my efforts on Pinterest and Reddit, and there is a distinct correlation with board followers and engagement.

For those that are wondering HOW to do this -
    • Go find a board and follow it. It must be relevant to the content you post / promote. Don't just find random boards :)
    • Go to the board page (that has all the pins on it)
    • At the top you will see how many pins and followers there are for the board
    • Don't cock this up... it's important.
      - Follow the Owner of the board. This is called ROOT1
      - Look for followers of the board who are actually real people. They need to have some pins & boards. Spam accounts are easy to spot (sexy women, ridiculous names etc.)
    • - Follow a good amount of people, say 30 - 50. We call these ROOT2
    • Select 5 or 10 of these people, and check out THEIR followers. These are called CONNECTION. Do the same thing as above and select 5 real accounts to FOLLOW
    • WRITE ALL OF THE ABOVE ON A SPREADSHEET: ROOT1, ROOT2, BOARD (URL) and CONNECTION.
      Recap:
Root1 is the owner of the board you followed
Root2 is the next user you contact in line. This will be used later.
Board URL is the board that connects you all
Connection is the final User in the chain... a follower of the follower of the board :) This is where the gold be! :smirk:
    • Repin a pin from everyone you follow.
    • Now here is the crucial part:- MESSAGE each of the people you have followed, mentioning the ROOT referrer and the board and say something like:
    Code:
Hey! I found your pins via Jane Doe and the group board DIY Stuff :) Just wanted to say you have some cool pins! You got a follower and a repin!! Thanks, Megan x
    (Yes I always use a woman's name)

What will happen is whoever you message will recognise the name & possibly the board. You are transferring the weight of the user you mention as well as the board weight.

You will usually see an influx of follows and traffic after doing a round of this "connecting", because these are active users. If anyone messages you back (which is usually about 10% of the people you message), be sure to tell them you liked [whatever post you repinned].

This sort of connection is powerful and can grow your boards quickly, and more importantly pack your follower list with active, real people. These people are great for growth...

Damn it! I just spent a load of money advertising on Twitter, Facebook, and thousands on SEO. And renewed my broadband!!!!

There are sub-niches on Pinterest that are super powerful. Anything that passes the time productively (not spammy shit) is read hot for engaging people on your site. For example, if you are in the travel niche, you can find a sub niche of this like "Staycations in Canada" or "Camping On A Budget", and then post a short 500 word post like "Top 10 Staycations in Canada". Once you get them on your website, you can funnel them into related topics that are related to this. Example: you know they are on a budget, you know they are in or near Canada, and you know they don't want to go abroad. You can write satellite posts around these topics that act as money posts. Keep your main post as free of ads as possible, but hit em with ads on the next post.

Yes, everything is dead if you want to see it like this.
And, when people are banking hard with what you think is dead, you're stuck with your own belief.
