Okay... like, seriously, what the fuck Microsoft?

So the other day Windows did one of their legendary updates. It just asked me if I want to restart now or later, didn't even give me an option to say NO!

After the update I noticed some weird behavior in NOTEPAD. Like a sluggishness. Like, the half a second delay here and there.

    What, The, Fuck?! :eek::eek::eek:

Notepad is like the one thing that opens FAST and works no matter what. You could be beating your PC with a baseball bat and throwing the flamethrower at it and all programs are stuck and not responding and lava is coming out of every hole on the machine and radiation all around it and viruses and malware and anything could be happening, but Notepad will open and be fast and work.

    But now that's over...

So I went to Google searching for "how to downgrade windows notepad" (would you ever think someone would search for that).

Anyway eventually I ran into this - https://www.theverge.com/2018/7/12/17563704/microsoft-windows-notepad-app-update

So that's what happened to my notepad. And I read through the comments and one of the commenters hit the nail right on the head:

See this person that left the comment, is like god. The modern Nostradamus. He can predict the future.

And I know all you guys will want to do is tell me to use Notepad++ and this and that and the other thing. NO NO and FUCK NO! I WANT NOTEPAD, THE SAME FAST NOTEPAD I ALWAYS HAD!

So now I'm sitting here like a jerkoff and I don't know how to downgrade. I mean, there's nothing on Google about it, not that I could find anyway. Any ideas on how I can downgrade notepad without having to format my entire lap top?

One thing for Microsoft. When you pieces of shit removed the option to disable automatic updates on Windows 10, I let it go. I didn't search for a hack on how to do it or anything. And I always used to Disable Automatic updates since Windows XP, always and forever.

And now I got sick and tired of your bullshit fucking automatic updates and I took care of it and disabled automatic updates on all my machines. Fuck you Microsoft! Let the people choose!

Find an older version of Windows & copy notepad.exe from c:\windows. Throw it on your desktop & try it. As simplistic as notepad is, I don't think it would require any additional files.

And yes - I understand where you're coming from. I felt the same way about floppy disks. They just worked - - - - - no matter what.

This update really made everything sloooooooow.

And it fucked up my notepad, and it even messed up paint!

Thanks for the comment, I googled how to downgrade 1903 update and I got some results. I'll try to do it now.

No problem. I downgraded it because it fucked up the colour profile and I couldn't correct it.

If I remember correctly, it should be under advanced options on Windows Update. Although it depends what build of Windows 10 you're running.

Yes I found out how to do it following some tutorial online.

Though both the tutorial and Windows itself when I went to downgrade told me that my files sshouldn't be affected, but I better back up. And while I have most of the stuff copied already on an external hard drive, there are things recently edited and work important on my machine, so I need 30-60 minutes to back all that shit up, and then I can do the downgrade.

I really hope this works, because if it doesn't I'm itching and my lap top would like a full OS reinstallation. But I'm so busy, have no time to format now. Uhh..

Anyway, I'll report how the downgrade went after I do it. Give it an hour.

    Yeeeah, that solved it!

You should see this notepad it's soooo gooood. Like you double click and it opens Instantly. Like you switch between opened notepad files and the switch is Instant. I mean super instant. You've never seen anything this fast before :D

Also Paint. I can drag-and-drop small areas again, which I couldn't do after the latest update.

Yes very good, everything is right with the world again :)

Here's a nice video that's completely unrelated to this thread :D
