    Can someone give me some insight of how SEO is done if you have a large website with a lot of potential keywords you want to rank for?

    Do you build links do the main url for all the keywords? Or do you build links to specific innerpages? Or both?

    Do you build links for all the keywords at the same time? Or do you split them up and build links over time?

    If possible - always make a link to the specific innerpage with a good anchor text.

    Depends - the best solution would be to make all the backlinks at onces, because that shows a natual linking pattern to mr. G.

    But it's not realistic to make backlinks to all relevant innerpages at onces. Pick 3-5 easy ranking keywords with separate deeplinks and focus on them, until they rank on page 1 and then move on to your next set of keywords.

    Chriss do you use unique backlinks for each innerpage or do you reuse backlink properties for multiple innerpages.
    Example: each innerpage get's an ezine articles backlink.

    My example (this is what I do and works great).

    I got an ecommerce, for example selling video cards, and I got an category page named "video cards" very optimized for this keyword, and with a lot of "video card blah blah blah" products inside it.

    First of all:

    1 - let the google index only page #1 of the category;
    2 - optimize the "video card blah blah blah" to a specific keyword, like they part number;
    3 - do SEO for the main category page and you'll see everything (category and products) raising up.

    Hope this help you.
    Cheers.

    Talruum is right if you focus on optimizing the main keyword, your long tailed keyword will rank at the same time, but if you focus one keyword at a time, it will take a longer time, but it build a stronger site and have less chance to get the position stolen.

    I currently do the SEO for a site with ~1300 indexed pages.

    I have learned the SEO is no different for large or small sites. Just make sure every page has a purpose and is optimized for keywords. I have had luck with back linking to relevant inner pages.

    I found the products had better rankings than category pages. Perhaps due to the amount of text? Probably.

    How big is your website and the purpose of the site?Besides money...
