All my blogs have static homepages so the onsite SEO is pretty straight forward. But what about the blogs where all the posts are on the front page and are constantly changing every time they make a new blog post. How are you suppose to make your homepage rank for your keyword then? Or is it a different strategy as in you try to rank the individual blog posts instaed of the homepage?

You could have a static part of your homepage that is already optimised, and the fresh content (blog posts) could act as a secondary push. So you never lose your optimisation, but give Google some diversity and fresh content.

    Best of both worlds. :)

your key is to rank the homepage and it is bound to have some static content , make sure that small content bits such as h1 heading, internal links, meta tags, header, footer are SEO for what that homepage represents then the middle bit that is dynamic does not really matter much. The inbound links when you build links to the homepage should be the keywords you want to rank the homepage for so you can still do all this SEO even if most of it is dynamic.
