Hey, I'm new here and kind of gullible when it comes to business deals. I was wondering what kind of tips and redflags to watch out when you're buying something. I've already had the misfortune of dealing with 2 scammers :( I'm hoping to gain more knowledge in this thread about recognizing scammers and how we can minimize getting scammed.

If you are buying something from BHW. The first thing you should notice is they should have atleast the blue Jr. VIP tag and you should always post something in the marketplace.

1. Do not buy anything from anyone who is not a Jr. VIP or higher rank. Jr VIPs have their membership fee and reputation on the line when they do business with you, but regular users have basically nothing to lose and will likely scam you.
2. Ensure the user has a decent history on BHW, at least a few months, and that their selling thread has good reviews
3. Always double and triple check the name when adding them on Telegram etc. If they add a t.me/(username) link, use that instead of searching. If you're unsure, ask them to PM you or to add you instead. There are plenty of people trying to scam on Telegram by swapping out one letter or number in the username and adding "BHW seller" to their Telegram name. Don't fall for it, always make sure you're talking to the right person.

It's quite easy to avoid being scammed, you just have to follow the right protocol and trust your gut. If something feels fishy or too good to be true, it probably is.

Always avoid non-Jr VIP members. Not just because of rules, but also due to the fact that they have nothing to lose here. You should also check the reputation of the members. If they are offering something too good to be true, then it's most probably is. You should understand the motives of people before getting into any deals. If they're desperate to get money at any cost and will offer anything you want, then it's better to stay away.

try to keep all conversation in BHW pm, not in another channel

If you are buying on BHW then you make sure to read the reviews from recent purchases and if reputed members on BHW appreciate the services then it should be legit service provider.

1. See if the user is an upgraded member(Jr.VIP/Premium member/Marketplace Seller)
2. Read reviews and ask where you can find them if they aren't mentioned publicly.
3. Do your homework and search the seller if anybody has anything to say about him.
4. Check the age of the service being offered.

Don't ever buy anything from someone who is not junior VIP or above rank or someone who have less message in their profiles. Junior VIP members are those members who have built their reputation in this forum and it takes time to build a reputation. And before buying anything get complete details of the service from them.

Very 1st thing is check the members profile age and his posts. It's rare that an old member who contributed to the forum will scam.

Next he should be a paid member because only paid members are allowed to sell here.

A very common way to scam online these days is cryptocurrency payments. It's better to avoid that.

Desperation both from seller & buyer is a sign of an upcoming problem. Don't be desperate to post multiple threads and hire someone in a hurry. Avoid someone desperately pushing to sell you something.

the reviews given by customers are a good indication of seriousness

I agree to. personal opinion, there is no reason why you should make your profile private, unless you have bad intentions
Likewise,
If you are a legitimate business, seller, you would like to showcase your knowledge, previous work etc etc for more creditability.

funny thing is that those sellers who have private profile, who are usually active, will not make a comment in this thread!
