I messed up one of my program which generated billions of folders/files.

Is there any other solutions than just to hit the delete button? delete button just can't handle that  I don't want to format my hard disk

You could always do a system restore to a day before you made the files?

you shoulda followed the guy's advice above and done it through the command prompt. no way it would take anywhere near 12 hours. it would've taken a few minutes at the most.

Probably program is more efficient at creating files than Windows is at deleting them.

    Damn.

there is a program unlocker, it deletes hard to delete files, ones that are hung up, etc.
