I'm working with a business that travels to other homes/businesses to do work. Their Google Business Profile is set up as a service-area business. I'm working in BrightLocal to clean up citations...and it's a mix of a P.O. box, the primary residence address of the owner, and empty address citations. On the state business directory lookup, the primary address is listed as the owner's residence.
They target a much wider area than the owner's city of residence. It's a regional service area business.
Some intel from BrightLocal:
Websites that use the owners address: Bing, Yahoo! Local, MapQuest, Yellow Pages, the official State business lookup service, etc.
Websites that use the P.O. box: BBB, Facebook, other hyperlocal industry citations (which may be able to be edited, tbd), etc.
Websites that have neither: Google, Yelp, Chamber of Commerce, EZlocal, ShowMeLocal, etc.
I'm trying to figure out the best play between these options:
1. Keep GBP as a service area business BUT use the primary residence address on all other citations.
2. Keep GBP as a service area business and edit/remove citations that use the owner's primary residence. Swap the address for the P.O. box where necessary.
3. Change GBP to physical address AND update all citations to owner's primary residence.
4. ?
Which option would you pursue? Maybe a 4th option I'm not thinking of?
Hopefully, this makes sense.
