How To Create An Authority Site - Solid Site Foundation

Nice share . Really this post has given me a solid approach towards building an authority site. I am following 80% of the steps mentioned by ZSO. This post has added me more info so that I can make my sites even better than the existing ones. I have ranked niches sites by building web2.0's & authority sites by only posting content about 600 words unique SEO articles.

I have few doubts.
1) I dont know this coding and all. I am using word fence plugin for protecting my site from hackers. Is it enough to secure my site?

2)For news sites how do you build backlinks for main keywords aart from long tail keywords which rank easily.

3)My sites have few errors & warnings in W3C . I dont know how solve them. How can I clear those warnings?

Most hacks come from use of popular plugins that have vulnerabilities or from free plugins and themes either downloaded from untrusted sources either shared for free with this purpose.

Many legit wp plugins like yours mentioned do a complete job like file and folder permissions, protection for different files and so. Where you need to pay attention is when downloading or using plugins and themes, that's how most sites get hacked.

I'm pointing authority backlinks to my sites using exact match anchor, branded anchor or generic (like "read more" , "source") anchor. Sending a few high PR backlinks with exact match anchor it's usually enough to get me where I want, and all these (including ema, branded, generic backlinks) pass authority, trust and power to my site which consequently ranks the other keywords and long tails. So with a few backlinks I'll be able to rank for the big keyword but instantly Google will rank the other keywords and long tails. That's due to the authority that the site gains from backlinks I send.

I don't have an advice other than if you don't know how to fix the W3C ask for a friend or outsource. Take a look at this addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/html-validator/ or any other similar. Most of them have instructions and guides for any errors found in your site, give it a go and if you can't handle this way then you have no other chance but to outsource.

What do you think about premium CDN's like MAXCDN? Is something like that worth it for a wordpress site that doesn't load very fast?

The free cloudflare hasn't been that great at all. It more or less shits out too often.

I use the paid solutions from both Cloudflare and MAXCDN. Most of my sites are running with MAXCDN though. If you're having the budget to go for a paid solution then that's the most suggested option.

Great post OP. Just a few questions though,

- Is it better to buy an aged domain? To have an effect on long tails ranking straight away?
- How many articles are there on a site that's earning you $500 a day?
- How long is it before you see money coming into your adsense?

Sorry for asking so many, just seems that I may take this route with my marketing.

Whenever I'm building up a site I'll look for alternative domains or for domains that are much better than a fresh domain so yes.

Unless we're talking about a couple of articles/site then the number of articles doesn't matter too much. You could make $500 a day with 100 articles or with 500 articles. What's most important is how and for what keywords you are planning to rank with that articles.

That question is already answered. I'd make an addition. Adsense is the last monetization method you'd want to go for. I have Adsense on blogs and news sites where the content is general and is not highly targeted to a business, niche or industry. The money is in selling leads, services or products.

Fantastic article OP -thank you!

One thing I see is not really covered a whole lot is Trust Flow. I find it to be a metric often overlooked but hard to obtain and I feel it makes a difference in rankings.

My question is this: Are you suggesting that more long tail articles lead to more domain authority, therefore better trust flow? I'm still trying to wrap my head around the concept and wondering what specifically can impact and increase trust flow on a website.

Thanks

What increases the trust and authority of a site is the sites that link back to it. If big sites with real authority and trust link to you then you'll receive authority and trust too. Is no other way around it.

Thanks, OP. Some gold in there.
One question came to mind - do you have different niche-targetted blog networks, or do you just use your one authority network for all niches?

20%-40% of my backlinks are from niche related blogs and sites. I don't have nor use only one site network.

Thanks ZSO!!! Great thread.

What would you say is a quality link?
A link from a relevant site?
a link from a high PR site?
Both?
What if the homepage has high PR, but not the page you get the link from?

Both. Doesn't matter if the page has no PR. In a time of 2-4 weeks the page that links to your will get power from the high PR domain.

Hi ZSO thanks for your help!

I have a quick question, since you say you do your backlinks from high pr, authority looking sites, etc... do you think one could rank a site with a couple of guest posts in high pr sites? or it's a waste of time? And your links in your high pr sites to your money site are located in posts or on the homepage?

Thanks!!

You're kiddin' me, right?

PR 8, 7, 6 sites linking to you? Not many have access to these kind of backlinks but this is the ideal and best way to rank a site. This is the ultimate SEO that can be done.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience. I was also planning to start a mix of adsense and CPA. Right now I am only doing CPA and youtube.
Being a starter, outsourcing the content is not quite affordable by everyone(including me). So I have a basic question if you can answer: How do you do keyword research? Because selecting proper keywords is half the battle won i guess.

And it would be great if you could share your site with me. :)

This subject asks for it's own thread. I'll put some tips on the next thread.

I want to ask again. You said you use high quality links but use blogroll links or blog posts or what?

Mostly In-content links. Whatever falls under contextual backlinks (including blog posts).

Hi zso,

Thanks for the great post.
If you buy a .com, do you bother also buying the other popular domains extensions such as .net and .org for the same name?
e.g. site.com, site.net, site.org

Yes, I do register the other popular extensions and point them (301 redirect) to the actual site.

Hey man, a great thread!

I just finished reading these 3 pages. And I must say that Im definitely going to give this a try!

Any recommendations on niche research? I found some great methods for keyword research on BHW, but there is not much information about niche research... If you have the time to answer me, it will be highly appreciated!

Cheers man, keep it up! :)

What do you think about NOT contextual backlinks from PR6,5,4 ? Are they any good? As I don't have access to contextual ones.

I think a guide to your SEO if possible? How long does it take you to get a site to earning $50 a day? And do you backlink one authority site post to another authority site post? Or is it just domain homepage to another domain homepage?

I think i said it before, but thanks for this great thread :)

There are thousands of different SEO guides on BHW, a handful of authority site keyword research guides.

My vote is for keyword research - it is the most fundamental part of SEO for ANY site - get your keyword research wrong and how to do SEO will be the least of your worries.
