How To Convert Pre-Kindle Ebook Files.

I have ebooks, mostly .Exe files and I would like to convert to e-reader
compatible files. Not just Kindle but also other e-reader platforms.

I feel sure you all know the kind of stuff I'm talking about. All those EXE
files we downloaded before Kindle came on the scene.

If this is possible . . . what software tools do I need.

Thanking you in anticipation for your help and assistance . . .

    Be seeing you.

You shouldn't be able to actually convert the .exe to .txt, if that possible you would just left click and open with notepad- a txt file is a short series of instructions, .exe files are far more complicated.
but there is a always a way the guy who made exe give u the source and then with huge programming knowledge, perhaps you will do it, but so far i never heard ebook have text files with extension of .exe

Thanks so much each and all for your response. I still don't have a way as yet to
    convert EXE files

What's got me puzzled more is that several ask if I have got it right about EXE
files and ask if I am making a mistake.

Before PDF became so popular was a time when ebooks were compiled with . . .
yes a compiler and the resulting product was an EXE. ebook. Back then there
were several compilers available to create ebooks. And it's not that long ago.

However this does not solve my problem of return EXE ebooks back to source so
    that I can repurpose them.

Please understand much of this EXE. ebook files material was released before the
arrival of Kindle and all the other ebook readers. Much of this material was
released with resell or mater resell rights.

Well now . . . I'm not having any luck getting an answer to my problem.

I feel sure there is an answer . . . and I will continue to search.

Is it so difficult to return a product to its original state (source).

.EXE ebooks were simply word or text files that were compiled
into .EXE files with simple compilers. Time was when "eBook
Generators" were all over the net.

It seems the downfall of .EXE ebooks was growth in popularity
of PDF files which could be read on just about all machines and devices.
