Well basically I am making 50 MNS and I don't really want to have to resetup CTR theme plugins etc on each one, so is there anyway I can just build the site up on one domain, and then back it up to install on the other 49? (changing titles etc afterwards)

I put the product into my thread actually

cmscommander -- you make a clone and then upload it across whatever you need - plus it allows plugins and settings to be done

it's free now but pretty soon to manage 50 sites it launches at $23.90 a month ... it's from the guy that does WP Robot.

Try Wordpress MultiSite network. Just install once and use it for as many sites you want.

The most secure way, to eliminate the possibility of those 3rd party scripts breaking your sites is to copy the files and database by hand. It may sound tedious but here's how you can reduce the work load if you're using cPanel:

    1. Add all domains as addon domains then have each folder named as the domain
    2. Select all files for the first site then zip them
    3. Use the copy function and copy it to all folders above
    4. Extract all zip files using the unzip function
    5. Download the sql of the first site
    6. Create a new database for each site and just assign the same user to each database
    7. Import the sql file then go into options table and edit the domain on the first and second page
    8. Edit the wp-config file of each site to match the database name

Hope I did not miss something.
