How to check your backlinks

I have a couple of VIs working on my backlinks for me.

I need to know how I can check they are doing the work I am asking of them

What is the best way to check, free ideally how you are doing in the backlink stakes?

Normally, a backlink take some time to show in yahoo site explorer, or in any tool that is based in it.

If you are paying for the service, you should ask for a report showing the links they are creating, and check them manually. Or maybe build/get someone build for you an app that do that

It's good if they have the right anchor text - which should be your target keyword. This is displayed on backlinkwatch.com.
 
Anyone got an alternative to backlinkwatch.com or yahoo.com just out of interest?
 
I use yahoo site explorer. If you are paying someone though I would ask for a report of where they posted. Then spot check some of those and make sure it's being done. Or hire someone else to spot check for you if you are talking about thousands of links. ;)
 
I also need to know about backlinks.
Can somebody tell me the best software for backlinks creator?
