Hey guys!

Can you suggest me a [free/free trial] tool that checks seo metrics for an expired domain?

I'm mostly interested in the backlink profile, da/pa. tf/cf

Unfortunately, ahrefs only analyzes live domains :(

Thanks in advance!

Are you sure? You might need to check again...

Thing is, yes, it provides you with a certain amount of data, but I have doubts about its accuracy.

For instance, I found several expired domains with this method https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/find-hundreds-of-expired-domains-in-5-minutes-for-5-bucks.831569/page-7

I'm quite sure that these domains have at least 1 external authority backlink and their UR/DR must be above 0

However, ahrefs shows that there is no data for them. I've checked 10 sites that I've found with this method - it's always the same.

This is because they haven't crawled the pages that link to that particular domain. This problem is also common with live domains, not just expired.

If you register in Moz site, you have some free checks every day

But personally, if I were you I would pay some domdetailer credits ($29) and you will have plenty of credit (25.000 checks!) to check for a long while.

You will get an incredible amount of information from each check.

This is what i do..

1) I go to expireddomains.net and type in the word in need and get the list of domains and filter in descending order of backlinks and copy them to clipboard
2) I go to semrush batch analysis and place all the domains. (I registered for 15-day trial and am still getting batch analysis free)
3) After checking decent domain authority I will visit then visit the website. I have installed moz toolbar. Its free. I will check the spam score
4) If its fine. Then i will move to web archive and check whether it has any Chinese text or anyone else has done 301 redirects earlier.
5) If its all fine then i will go to ahrefs free backlink checker and check domain rating.
6 )If moz, semrush and ahrefs domain ratings are somewhat similar I will buy it.

You don't need to have any paid subscription.

Sounds good, thank you!

Majestic, Ahrefs, Moz, site:websitename.com + Waybackmachine, semrush.

Chech anchor text
Check if it was used for redirects
Check if it was used for a shady niche
Check if it has traffic before
Check how old is the domain
Check when was the last time it was active.

Cheerios
