Imagine that you post a thread in the WTB section.

You get messages from members offering the service.

Imagine that those members are not offering the service in the BST section.

    What would you do?

Ask them to offer the service in the BST section?

Is that enough? What if the member uses the BST section and ends being a scammer?

Is it ok to ask a mod to operate as a tester or escrow service?

    What are your opinions?

Edit: I will add this question.

When should you report a member as a scammer? Only after being scammed?

it's called due diligence :) ... usually bst threads are already review and approved by mods/admins ... so in general conception peoples who got their bst threads up and running already know how valuable it's this place they don't risk to spoil their reputation and maybe some serious source of income with some silly low life scams ... others who offer their services ... hmmm it's time for you to take your risk I think , posting on shitlist without being actually scammed can't bring nothing good for you but can be somehow good for others to not get caught in same silly scams like you fall ... :)

As far as the BST section, reading every post in the last two pages of their thread tells you if they're even still in business, if orders are backed up, if they've gone rouge (even the best turn bad sometimes) and results buyers are having. Anyone not on BST is a gamble. Not saying definitely don't go their but don't make a big purchase and realize there's a chance you may lose what you're spending without any recourse. No one will do escrow on this group. Too many headaches.

This member has no BST thread. Just offered the services by PM.

I thought the escrow option was a good one. The respectable mod/member just had to receive the goods and the money and certify the service.

Good luck with that doomsday. I don't speak for administration and I shouldn't have. lol There's no escrow here that I know of. Can't you find someone on BST to do what you need. Someone with lots of postive rep for what u want done?

Not that I have found yet.
That's why I asked this member to have his thread approved for BST before jumping in. He's offering a unique service so if he's legit it would be great for him and paying the BST fee and offer a few reviews (at least at a discounted price) could only bring benefit to him.

    Let's see what he says.

But my idea when creating this thread was not restrict it to this specific case of mine.

I wanted the community members to give their views for similar cases.

And I'd also suggest a quarantine zone for when we have many suspicions of a given member offering something for sale but we have no solid evidence. That way that member could be "investigated" by specialists before scamming anyone and going to the shitlist.

Of course the best advice I can give someone in such cases is always be very suspicious and read the recommendations in the sticky threads of the Marketplace.

    I sort of disagree.

I am sure that there are some members who would be happy to do a one off gig but don't want the ongoing management of a BST.

For example, a while ago someone wanted an article written, which I was interested in as I had some time to burn that day but wouldn't normally do something like this.

Having said that, those with BST threads are a lot easier to investigate, but at the very least I would be looking for a member for who has some sort of decent reputation. It is amazing how many PMs I get from brand new members with less than 5 posts offering services when I show any interest in a method.

I'd treat everybody here like they were planning to rob me blind then steal my cane, same way I treat everybody I'm doing business with for the first time, thread in BHW BST or no. Why should anybody consider you legit?

Dude, that's a little extreme don't you think?

Being suspicious is one thing, but treat everybody like they'll rob you blind? Ouch...

There's over 1000 threads about scammers in the shit list and about 1000 services for sale threads, I don't care for those odds.
