How can I check if an aged domain is healthy to start a new authority site ? and what should I check for to see if it is worth pursuing?

I tried a few blacklist checking site but I couldnt understand a thing.

if you don't understand how to check an expired/obtained domain your best bet would be to register a new one. One of the first methods is to check it's back links if any. If it is bombed with neg seo keywords i would avoid it. Then you check to see if it is black listed or banned from search engines but you said you don't understand that

umm , its not blacklisted by google and didnt have any problems in the past. Because it is an 8 yr old domain and PR0 and low authority. I just wanna make sure I dont add articles and fresh backlinks and wasting time and find out its past ruined it.

I checked the backlinks , its "ok" backlinks with anchors in my niche so it should help not hurt me.

But what I am worried about is if it might have been blacklisted.

is it better If i start brand new or is it better to go on with this ?

Depends on what you are trying to do and how you want to do it. In my experience I attempt to register a fresh domain if I can get one good enough. Personally in my experience hard work will pay off even with a new domain and I could be wrong but I don't find that an aged domain really has "that much authority" if you put hard work in what you are trying to do.

From my experience with my niches anyway. I don't tend to play in the highly competitive niches it gets too dirty too fast. Stay below the radar and you will have less of a headache.

Stop with the what-ifs and start with gaining experience.

My personal check list for aged domains:

1) If it's still indexed, search for "domain.com" to make sure it comes up in 1st place
2) If the homepage isn't indexed but an inner page is, make sure that pages comes up 1st
3) Check for spammy backlinks, .ru referring domains, make sure anchor texts tell a consistent story
4) Check https://whois.domaintools.com/wseeker.net to make sure 50 people haven't already owned the site
5) Look for a balanced anchor text profile
6) Optional: Is the site relative to my niche?
7) Buy domain and test it in my test network before rolling out a site

The key is step #7. Alot of times, especially with expired domains, all the checks might come up clean, but for some odd reason the site simply doesn't rank. I'd say this happens about 10% of the time. So before I fully commit, I make sure it gets to first page on a relatively non-competitive term like "dolphin socks" with one PBN link. If it doesn't, I move on.

The site: and info: query in Google will at least tell you whether the site is indexed, however, to determine 'health' you'll need to manually inspect the backlink sources and make your own determination about whether they're 'healthy' or not.
