    Hi, guys!

Wonder if you can please point me in the right direction.

Say, I want to set up a website that asks people to complete a CPA survey
for a chance to win a prize or get a discount.

How do I make sure that people complete this survey before a
discount code or some other reward is revealed to them?

Keeping in mind that the affiliate networks like Clickbank and CJ usually just give you a link to
a survey, right? Which takes my visitors away from my site and takes them to their landing page.

So how can I track that the visitor has completed whatever needs to be done on that other site?
Are there 3rd party tools that can check this?

I have seen sites that have a survey embedded in their content - how does that work?
Do they host surveys themselves and then send the results to the company who commissioned
the survey or can I get embeddable surveys from some CPA networks?

I hope I'm explaining myself clearly enough...

    Thanks!

CPA net works with incentive offers usually provide a postback function that is meant for this exact purpose.

Though you need to either have a bit of tech knowledge or hire someone or use a gateway such as content locker pro that integrates supports for this function to use it properly.

you need to use the callback function, every CPA company can call a script when a lead is generated. However it's a bitch, sometimes it can take minutes or so before the script is called, when I tried to use it on twitter with content locker it didnt work because of the delay.

Thanks for your reply, Zak_A! Awesome. Your info on the postback function gave me the jump
off point I needed for further research.

Orbit143, thanks for your post! Very helpful. You mentioned that every CPA network has the postback - out of the three
networks I've checked for this function so far - one didn't have it (Commission Junction) EDIT: or does it (Commission Detail Service)?

Is CJ the exception that proves the rule?

Also you wrote that the postback is unreliable - thanks for the heads up.

In that case I will deliver the "reveal content" through a link sent to the email.
"Check your email you will receive a link to the content shortly" maybe that way I can
    compensate for the postback delay.

One last question - Has anybody come across these "complete survey -> win stuff" sites that seem to host their own
surveys? They have lots of questions trying to find out what you're interested in.
Have they negotiated, directly, with other companies to sell these leads to them?

It seems to me the trust factor would lead to more conversions if you could keep the surveys on the same
site but, I guess, CPA networks don't provide this kind of advanced API this would need?

Thanks everybody for your helpful input - you're all awesome.

Dont know CJ, sorry. And the callback is not unreliable, it just can take some time, so in case you need to know instantly if the lead was generated (like me with that content locker) then you cant rely on that. Honestly I dont have a solution for this, I was unlocking content for everyone who was at least redirected to vendor's page.

About surveys, sure you can create your own and keep all collected data such as email and name and then use it to send targeted emails, instead of just selling all data to someone else for a few bucks.
